Very chuffed with it. I had an mdf stealth shelf with hidden 6x9s, but the problem is it don't fit in any more. So I went down the scrappy 2day and got a mint original shelf for 8 quid.
Any way, I'm thinking of doing away with the 6x9s, and perhaps having front compenents. I already have a 4 channel amp to run these off. At the moment I have 16cm door speakers in custom pods. Would comps give enough sound quality around the car, and outside
Or should i still fit some sort of rear speakers?
Cheers ant

u thought of doing rear quater pannel builds?
i started some for my old nova
they were wicked, sounded class too
i used 5.25" speakers - purely cos i could get some at the right price - u can fit anything upto 6x9 without any problem
rear quater pannel is good as it is only one layer of metal skin thick - so sound can get out of your car if thats what your after! also there is the stale air vents in the b pillar where sound can escape.
this i found was an excellent place for speakers - the resonance, and also it is almost sealed behind there, replicates sound VERY well.
i wish i got round to finnishing them now actually, may dig them out on boxing day if the tele is naff and have a blast with the p45 filler
the ONLY thing you have to watch is the driver side, there is an obstruction behind the pannel there is a bracing piece to protect the fuel things (the fuel cap / pipe)
if you find you need to take a corner out of it then go for it its not that structural - however i wouldnt do it just from personal choice.
you can make them as custom as you like
i put the speakers towards the front of the card to stop people banging them with their elbows, i relocated the fag trays firther back (god knows why i dont condone smoking in me car!!!) just a little detail i guess.

as for making them  thought i forgot something!!!
i made some MDF rings for the speakers - cheapy cheap! not halfords or auto acoustics / auto leads prices!!!
anyway, made the rings
fitted them to the pannels.
cut the pannels away wherever they obstructed the speaker. and also a hole for the wires out back.
then its a choice of what you want to do to the card / build. depending on where you put things etc etc.
whever there is gaps, build using balsa wood - EXTREMELY LIGHT - EASY to sculpt.
this is just the base though as it is extremely soft wood too
then build using p38 and p45 fillers
then finnish in choice of vinyl or material
vinyl is hard to get pro finnish - need to heat it all up etc to get in to controus.
very hard
i planned to use a grey colour felt almost - same as parcel shelf
my stealth shelf looks OEM as well - so it all looks factory fitted, thief wouldnt think ohh he fitted ?????? speakers there - just they look standard - unless you do something mental of course with the builds!!!
remember - you still need to get people in the back though!!!
i placed my speakers as far forward - in the little recess thing as possible, built out wards the say flush with the rest of the card, so in effect all i did was shorten the recess, looked well trick.
that does seem like a good idea.
So it would look like this when done?

similar
ill post a pic 2moro...............
my end result would have looked similar, but a bit more subtle, this is divided off from the card (speaker and the build bit is more harsher) (use of word harsher there!? :?) mine is sublter
