This car started out as mine and novabikecarbed pub run car on a thursday night, i don't drink and drive before anyone mounts a horse.

Then i decided to take the nova a little deeper into the relms of modifying and this is where its got to so far, had a little blow up along the lines at 110mph (on a Track) which resulted in me needing new underwear, i.e no servo for the brakes!!! Good job the handbrake stopped us :thumb:

I can't seem to find the pictures of when the conrod came out of the back of the block then went back in and came out through the front!!!!

Or when it ripped the valves out of the head but left the valve stems in place!!! If only Mr Blydestein could of seen that, think he would of cried a little more than i did:cry:

Cheers for the welcome, Well its being built for both really, if i can't fund a rally i'll have a few track days out and about, think i'll need to do a few track days first though, just to get used to not having things like a servo, and the suspension settings are going to be fun!!!! Not really mate i bet you could have it done on a sturday;)

you need to enlarge the hole in the nova bulkhead and shorten the corsa arms by 10mm either side. Then get a pug106 or saxo pump and now the hardest bit which i had to go get made was the hydraulic pipes to connect them both together:thumb:

16xe_chris
12-02-09, 03:02 PM
now i started making the top adjuster, not that it needs adjusting cause that belt was a damn good fit ha ha

First was to cut the end off the standard corsa top mount, then chop this other one i found in the garage and weld them both back together, and hey presto its now top adjustable:)

Right i've done a bit more today, nipped down to vauxhall and bought 8 stud bolts for the inlet manifold and the post man had brought me the tps for the webbers, so today's mincing was fit the tps to the carbs then fit the carbs to the engine.

Also fitted the battery box behind my seat, best put my tiny battery on charge too ha ha.

Need to make on the wiring next, then re-align all the front wings, headlights and put the bumper on, slowly getting there.

I'll upload some pics tomorrow night, best go do the valentines thing ha

Spec of the engine is a bit unknown really, it came with lots of security tags on nuts, so i chopped them off to have a sneak preview of the inards lol

I'm over near skipton mate, i will be bringing this out to put a few roads miles on the engine as its only been dyno run at the moment:thumb:

I can't wait to drive it now!!! I even bolted my seat in the other day and made car like noise's ha ha, big kid.

03-10-09, 10:36 AM
Sorry for lack of updates, been busy with work and not had the spare time to get this finished, i would like to have a go out in the old lass before the snow arrives.

I'm now thinking of putting the standard inlet/wiring ecu back onto the engine just to get this running and have a laugh.

What sort of price should i expect to pay for everything to get this engine running, i.e. i need inlet pipes etc with injectors, complete wiring harness and i'm guesing an injection pump.

which loom should i go for a c16xe/x16xe??

Its for bonnet pins matey, if yours isn't working, take it out and give it a damn good clean as they work off sensing earth, you should have one wire going to it, when the bonnet opens it slides up and creates an earth to the alarm box :thumb:

My plan with the exhaust was to make it 2.5" all the way from the manifold to the one and only back box, but now i have the pipe and exhaust box i'm not sure how it will all fit under there lol plus i need to keep the exhaust note around the 99db mark:confused:

Hopefully it will be a bit drier tomorrow so i can get the welder and grinder out and have a few test chops/ fitting etc etc

Yes matey it is a kevlar guard

Its still too wet to go out and jack the thing up again lol i hope it will be the linkage that didn't get tightened up all that time ago!

If it stops raining i can finish off the wiring inside and wire the horn relay in, then it can go for a test, i may just take it over the road as i think they do MOT's??

I'm not too sure on the bhp mark, but i had it spinning the wheels in 4th gear last week and it pulled right round to the limiter in 5th in a matter of seconds:cool:

I will be trying to get it booked into the rolling road soon, but i'm running out of time and money before the North West stages rally on the 5th and 6th, this will be its first maiden rally since the rebuild :thumb:

what engine and gearbox is it on, was this in the snow ??? :thumb:

At long last it's looking ready for a thrashing. Nice big white flaps you have there lol

The pod looks well better than I thought it would, did you order some new brackets to hold it onto the bonnet? Look after that template so you've got a new hobbie for this year. lol

I'm looking forward to next weekend :d

Oh and 85 WTF is going on there then, you were number 3 last week lol How many have entered? Haven't you been number 85 before?

Yes i have been down in 85 before i think, i think its because of the 2year gap thas why they popped me into 85, as long as we have a good clear run with no hicups i'll be happy, still need to get a proper picture of the car for the msa log book lol

**** me, that was some hit..

My back end (oh matron) kept letting go at Oulton too, think mines due to poor tires, and too stiff rear coilovers etc.

I think we were lucky not to roll over really

I think the back end let go due to it being so damn wet and greasy, i'll know for next time though.

Can you not adjust your rear coilovers to make them a little softer??
