Heres my 1988 E reg Nova Merit. Picked it up a few weeks ago.

It is in ok shape considering its a Nova and the only rot ive found is under the headlights which is fine because its an easy fix.

The car is in a bit of a mess as someone previously decided to break heaps of random bits of the dash and interior...oh and paint the car matt black with rattle tins :wtf:

Rough spec to start with isnt exciting

1.2 Carb engine
Rage backbox
Early SR bumpers
Koni shocks & springs all round
1 SR Steel wheel

Not quite sure what im doing bar tidying it up, im unsure of what bumpers to go with and also what engine. Just want to get it back looking like it did before it got wrecked.

Snowplough is now gone im afraid as my mate made me an offer i couldnt refuse for it!

So far ive got the engine running a bit better but need to check the timing because its overfuelling and backfiring like hell

Now that's a project mate. Hope your aim is to get it back to it's former glory. Should keep you busy :thumb:

Corsa c sri rims look a bit modern for the mark 1 imho

Definetly wanting to return it to looking like a car again as opposed to a shed.

It never came with the Corsa wheels, not a fan myself really because as you say they look too modern and IMO far too big!

Got windscreen, bonnet, new exhaust & manifold but still got alot of little bits and pieces to try and find. Got a GTE interior to replace the current one as its not in the best condition either.

We have started rubbing the matt black paint off and the original paint underneath is still in top condition so it just means alot of blood, sweat and tears!

Hopefully cut out the rot in the next few weeks and start welding bits up, got to fit mine and my mates Nova's in just now but sadly his is first in the queue lol

Cle - I got it from Alford, was in Scotads, paid £375, too much really but its not often one comes up for sale around here as you know!

Not sure if im going to make it a rep of anything i think it might end up a mixture of things unless i can make it an exact replica of a GTE or SR.

Was thinking of a 1300 on carbs but ill have a C16SE available so i might use that...

 back in october i phoned about a E reg SR in Alford, As soon as i said Im phoning about the nova in scot ads they just said sold and hung up. But it was advertised at £300.

Like the idea of a 1.3SR on webers :thumb:

Need to have a looky one day if i'm down your way :)

The lad i bought this from has a pink 2.0 16v GSi as well, it was in scotads at the same time this was. If your ever down my way just give me a shout and you can have a look!

I think i know which SR your talking about though as i vaguely remember phoning about it as well.

Mine was in for £500

Well hopefully i'll see some nova's this weekend at the snowman rally. Even if i'm stuck in the service all day :)

I really am not sure if the stuff's still there but, when my dad and his mate rallied nova's there was a barn full of mk1 nova parts down near strathdon. I can try and see if the bits are still there if you're looking for parts :)

Last time we were down was to pick up a set of borbet's for my mums corsa like 2 years ago.

Well, the rally cars still got to get m.o.t'd for snowman lol but the mechanic's doing that today i think. Engine out the new rally car's in bits lol

Probably be at both depending if one of the impreza's is going :) but im always at the service, Junior mechanic FTW lol

Did a bit of work this morning to the Nova.

Took the head off as it was running like a bag of nails and thought id have a look just out of interest to see what the problem was, turns out some folk think you dont need head gaskets at all! Valve/piston contact as well, not that it matters as the engine will be scrapped.

Stripped the majority of hoses, wiring etc from the engine bay so the engine can just drop out whenever i get round to it.

Totally forgot about this thread, done a wee bit to the nova but nothing much because i havent really been bothered

Engine, interior etc all out and front panel cut off and the rust around it chopped out too, started seam welding it as well but not really done much of that.

Also sorted out a passenger side door and a bonnet too but they are still on the Nova which is getting broken so will be getting them whenever it is ready to go to scrap. Really slacking on this just now since ive got the saloon and a total lack of motivation for it, hopefully when i finally get round to start welding it up i will get back into it again.
