ariel into stereo help

basically my dvd headunit's ahd the ariel wire ripped out of it, however theirs still aftew strands left hanging out, about 6 or 7

could i possibley nick a ariel female plug off another stereo and solder it onto the remaining wires? not too sure if theirs a live wire running down the centre? :confused::confused::confused:

should be fine mate.

Ariel wire is 2 wires, single core centre wire and meshed outer, you need make good contact with both of these and it should work.

Halfrauds also do ariels and wire and connections for about £10

it can be done mate,
but make sure you keep the center single
wire away from the others.
if they touch you will get interference
through the radio.
theres no live

their all just hanging out the back of the stereo by about a cm, how do i know what ones the live?

Take it to your local ice dealers and they can fit you a new one or if youre good with fiddly bits and a soldering iron you can do it yourself bud by opening the back of it up and soldering a new one to the board!

would halfords to that for me? or would it have to be an electrician?

Halfords wouldn't be able to do that, need a proper ICE dealer. Preferably one who repairs head units etc.
