may be a real stupid question, but for my restoration i was wondering if its in anyway possible to get a brand new crate c16se engine?
cheers

nah i think not. You could possibly get a new bottom end as i think its the same as a C16XE/X16XE and they should still be available from somewhere brand new, crate jobbie.. Should be able to get a new F13cr too i think..
So youde be a head and inlet short of a new engine..
Then again i think there are headgasket differences between 8v and 16v bottom ends.. not sure.

Not going to be efficient spending tho i have to admit. Recondition one thoroughly maybe through a rally specialist - still popular in rallying, just about..
tis all about the 16v now u see..

I spent too much many moons ago reconditioning my old GSi 8v; looked ok tho (wasnt meant to be o.e looking)

As daft as it may sound, have you actually tried Vauxhall? Or try Ivor Searls.
