hey

right i brought a motorbike a few weeks ago 40k on the clock, MOT and tax for a few months, 1981 old W redge six volt electronics. dented like crazy and bodge job of paint in different spots, bad over spray etc.
this is the one i own at the moment. is a runner and have ridden it, but it revs high.
paid 330 delivered for it.

mentioned it to my local moped dealers and they have one 1 year newer, same colour, with 4k on the clocks, yes 4k from 1982. it had been sitting all winter out side and started first time on the button  he mentioned a small thing that was a temp fix a few years ago and the previous owner used it for 3 years and is still running. being one year later its now a 12v model. and a few bits on the body have changed. nothing major, and is looking in near mint condition compared to mine.
price, 150 quid. not MOT or TAX

WHAT DO I DO

do i keep my 6v model and restore it as planned, or do i sell it and buy the 12v with 4k on the clocks. and then do a restoration from there.

pleaseeeee help lol

Well im not really into bikes, but if i was i think i would buy the 12v one too, make good of the other one and try and make a profit buy selling it on.
Buy you writing this thread makes me think you would like the newer bike

yeh im gonna do the restro what ever. i just think the new one would be a much better base for a restro, and its is much nicer nick. yeh 150 can be found alright lol. but i think i will always have the niggle in the back of my mind about the temporay fix that has been done as its a small part in the engine something to do with the electronics, think its the dizzy equilivant and is impossible to find the part needed.

edit, yeh i think i do want it, i cant just let it go as they are rare as funk and barly come up.

martin, get the lower mileage one and use the other as a spares bike bud. 12v electrics are far better than 6v, trust me after my old triumph i'd do a conversion on any more i have..

I take it its a cb200 benely?

The bits for them are easy to find:thumb:

I have been given a few and bought several!

Good strong bikes, go forever with oil and maintainance!

Keep both, bikes are more fun then cars, but not so warm:cool:

My bad, Cd sorry!

Good bikes, easy to work on, 6v is as easy as 12v, have both, sell the worse one, you will get £150 all day long for a comuter bike!

And I still dont know wht PIE is there - perhaps we need to mod the4 forum so BURGO is a default on all polls...
