Opinions on my Nova please

Hey folks

I know some have you have already seen me in this but thought id see what you folks think.

Its a gsi turbo,
Rj automotive design bumpers
supra sideskirts etc etc

Please comment.

Not really to my taste (looking) but the engine seems nice :)

A full on GSi looker would be 100x better

Engine sounds good, Paints really cool, Wheels look good and i really like the front wings with the cut outs.

As everyone else says not really liking the kit and would be better as a GSI

I had a look at this at the karting event and its not to my taste. The kit looks out of proportion with the car and your engine bay looked untidy :p.

Not really into kitted novas, but looks well done. Paint looks good, and engine sounds good. Bumper is a bit too 'open mouthed' but I guess that's for the fmic? Pics of engine bay please:D

It does look dated, not gash, just dated.

However, If you wide arched it and added deep dish rims I think the aggressive styling would be justified and at least you have got the power to match!

I was expecting these kind of comments to be fair

Bought the car mostly as it is.
The person i bought it from had it in storage for 3 years
and alot of parts were stolen but since i bought it i managed to get alot back together and back on the road.

It was on redline magazine back in 2004 so yea quite dated but something about it that keeps me interested.

I also have a nova gte and working on a wide arched gsi so have a nice variation.

Will get some specs up and more engine bay and interior pics.

looks like its a bit beyond redemption ? it would be a major ass ache to chisel away at those skirts and put them back to standard now.

altho despite all of that, the 1600 turbo sounds like fun.

but i dont like it. rear is ok though, but i cant see the use of that front bumper. that thing is huge mate. although you could make some money now, as i heard you uk guys are snowed in ;)

Rj Automotive isn't the name of the bumper, it's the name of the company that desgined it :p



used to love this car's years and years ago, when it was first feature, all parted used to work to gether very good...


but not, i cant stand the look of it - just not my thing at all, but as you like that, thats all that matters ;)

Im not a fa of kitted novas but its old skool in terms of kit/styling, im hoping you have sorted the engine prob though as me and hendrix were inhaling your engine oil on the way back from karting lol

im gonna go against the grain now and say i love it. it reminds me of my yoof, and the kitted creations that were atround then. i have the redline with this in and it looks as good now as it did. well done!

Please dont gsi it mate, then you will just blend in i say keep it as it is. A proper old school nova to remind everyone how novas were back in the day! Thats what made me buy one lol Whats the finish like on it? Get some interior and bay pictures up too. :)

i dont know how much of the history you know of this car but i know a fair bit!

this was local to me and built and lived in my area for a long time but the guys name evades me and i belive he sold to a girl local who had it for a while in whaplode he also had a white scooby
was always lively and it was a nice bloke who had it. he ploughed thousands into it and then got pissed off with it and sold it to the girl that owned itlast i then belive she blew it up again had it fixed and put it up for sale on the main road near greens structural in whaplode for 4.5k! needless to say it was there a while and then got parked up behind the petrol station for a while then just disapeared

is the engine sorted now because he had nothing but trouble with it from day one it was constantly beeing rebuilt also if you look at the doors they flip the wrong way because when it was painted they were painted off the car and at a later date. has it still got the leather interiour because that was realy well done and cost an absolute fortune.

still looks in good condition though and i have always liked this one for some reason
it was kind of insperation to get into novas all those years ago lol

Hey thanks for the information mate

I have had a few problems with the engine but seems to be running ok at the moment :)

I had noticed the doors looked like they flipped in the wrong direction lol
I bought it coz it was my chilhood dream nova.

I now do prefer the gsi look etc but as i say i already have a gte and gsi so this is something different for me..

Not sure what its running bhp as i havent got anything to show its been on the rollers yet.
Did have a nice boot intall but that was stolen. Just running my own twin 15" sony setup at the moment..

Engine specs
1.6 gsi with T2 Turbo
CS10 spec cylinder head
decompression plate
Hi torque cams
New hydraulic lifters
New pistons
Refaced valve seats

and more that i cant find receipts for at the moment

it is well done and in its own way a realy well finished and nice car but as said not to eveyones taste its just a shame about the engine choice at one point it very nearly just got redtoped before it was sold because of reliability but i hope you get any problems you have sorted mate and nice to see it lives on
if you do want anymore info on it i see the guy who had it and did it all from the begining a fair bit
i can get his number for you if you like

in regards to power just before he sold it to the girl that had it it was set up and rolling roaded courtan millers at 140 sumats brake
cant remember exactly but i do remember it beeing 140 bhp
