SR's had anti-rollbars, but I won't get into that as there have been a few 'with or without' threads. SRs were marginally lower than boggo-spec Novas too; they also had a rev counter and a few less blanking plates all over the dash! IMO your red interior will look best against a white, grey, black or red Nova.

Did an SR just have solid discs too?

I just noticed on mine yesterday that they were soild, and it got me wondering! Debating if it is worthwhile "upgrading" to my GTE spec vented set up?

SR on the logbook. Serious, its not worth spending the money building a replica and it will never be an SR. Just do what looks good on the car, usually subtle mods look good. Either that or buy a genuine SR if you really want one.

for an SR replica you need -

Exterior
a MK1 Nova
SR or GTE style bumper or the earlier Snowplough bumper (rare) - non colour coded
Tinted green glass with windscreen having blue fade sunstrip.
A Nova with bump strips down the side with matching body coloured detailing
All SR's have the vinyl down the sides beneath the bump strips however you cant get this any more (see the PNGClub shop for matt black and soon to be grey pattern replacements).
Rear MK1 bumper with the lower extension
4 x 3 spoke Ronal wheels
non colour coded wing mirrors
rear wrap around spoiler
rear SR graphic between the lower part of the wrap. You cant get this any more - see PNG Shop for replacements.
Square Vauxhall bonnet badge on bonnet (replacements on ebay/PNG shop)
Springs wise I think 30/40mm all round?
Ariel on the drivers wing and side indicators
standard 1.2 discs and calipers (serious recommend upgrading these though)
1.3 SR engine (usually auto choke)

Interior
Usually came with the Recaro chequered seats (brown or grey)
Grey carpets
Centre console with tape deck
Standard door cards with the circular pattern around the winder mechanism
Grey MK1 dash
3 spoke steering wheel with large centre horn
MK1 clocks with rev counter and oil pressure gauges.
Rear seats have 3/4 split.
front and rear speakers.

re your comments about not wanting to do an SR - sorry but your initial post clearly states "I'm looking to do a sr because I'm buying a sr interior"...

hence the reason why I listed all the sr gubbins...

anyway - as mentioned several times red interior - blue car - will look odd but hey who gives a feck - if its in good condition (not torm on the drivers bolster etc) then who cares!

To be honest it's upto you hey mate ! if you think it'll look good do it, if you think it'll look s**t then dont, simple hey. As L33LEG said why dont you buy a blue SR interior if your wanting to keep the car blue ? Also why not consider other options for the interior ? what style are you looking to go for on the whole ?

do you think it would be stupid to have a red sr interior in a car that colour??

tbh the red sr interior only suits red cars where as the early sr stripes suit any colour of car.

baby-geraldo
09-02-09, 11:18 PM
the red interior has popped up and its cheap, interiors over here arent the cheapest

I love the blue colour in the picture :thumb:, not that I know much about cars (yet) lol but I would say stick to the same colour whatever you choose,it's all about the co-ordination :p
