problem is, iv lost half the disks, so i can load anything back in lol
Keep your own hard drive then :)
take the lid off & have a look.
its mostly no. of pins & speed of processor.
try www.memorybits.co.uk (http://www.memorybits.co.uk) they do crazy deals for weekend purchases, but take about 5days to deliver as they are from Jersey

they look like 240 pin..
1Gb will cost you about a tenner..
as for graphics, I dunno
google "what ram do i have" and you should find programs that will test it and tell you what you have
programme called cpuz will detail your computer specifications that shoudl tell you enough, what i did was go to pc world and buy one bring it home, it didnt work so i took it back and got the right one and i kept the box for future lol
and for graphics, check ebay, i got a half decent 512mb one for 55 quid or so

Corsair and Kingston are about the best (most reliable) RAM brands you can get.
You're pretty limited with regards to graphics cards:

What do you need the graphics card for?
Your mobo can hold a maximum of 3gb aswell, but if your running xp, which i presume you are, than 2gb will be plenty. You probably would want more than 1gb aswell.
ebay is the future - I got a dual core 360gb AMD tower for £190 inc delivery!
saved farting about trying to work out what the old PC needed...

Your pc seems to be slghtly newer then the one Im using so you should see a difference when you stick in the RAM.
I upped my wife's pc (one Im using at the mo) from 256RAM to 2.25GB RAM. Stuck in 2 x 1GB DDR 333MHZ sticks and it loads up very quick. From 4 mins from cold boot till everything has loaded in XP on the desktop to 1 min. That cost me 20quid from the bay. Plus Im gonna up the CPU from 2.4GHz to 3.06GHz HT (the fastest avalable for the board) cost me 30quid for that. So for 50quid totally maxed out the board and has made a big difference.
Seeing as my older 2.8GHz 1GB SDRAM machine still does absolutley everything I throw at it including audio and film editing with no issues. It depends on what you will use it for but if you have dobe your homework and thought about it, its worth it.
More RAM is ace, I've just gone from 1Gb over 3 slots to 2.5Gb over 3 slots and boot up it quick, even with 1.25Tb of hard drives lol
Just finished a virus scan that used to take 6hrs+ with only 250Gb and now with the extra 1Tb it did it in 1hr 36mins :O
Ebuyer.com and Crucial RAM FTW

Quids on that being a faster and less fragmented HDD. Virus scans are CPU intensive, not memory intensive...

You should ALWAYS use paired sticks of RAM. Preferably from the same batch as well but this is not always necessary. If you have 3 slots then I recommend that you get 3 of a kind. Also, if you are buying RAM then you need to match up CL ratings otherwise it will default to the lower value. If anyone needs any parts, then I will be able to get them for you from a trade site. Just PM me and I'll get back to you with a price ASAP.
