replaced a track rod end on an old seat ibiza. Wasn't too hard, just follow a haynes manual. Dunno if it will solve the problem.

if steerting feels sloppy it is most proably the track rod end as you quite rightly said, jack up the car and chock it on one side, have a look closer at the condtion whjilst wobbling the steering parts etc etc

hopefuly its not wat happened to me! the thread end of the cv joint managed to sheer! so basicaly that phat 20mmish nut that holds the wheel to the hub was not joined! so the tca and track rod was all that was holding the wheel on!

chances are its the trackrod end, or the botom ball joint.

ball joint is easier to replace, trackrod end can b a b1tch to get off.

im w8in for something to happen to my car along similar lines.

*touches wood*

guy showed me at my MOt the other day how my track rod ends look

there fine and everything, look almost brand new
but my car seems slammed so much, instead of the joints being 90 degrees, and the bit above it being verticle (not the lower part) the bit that goes up, its almost at 45 degress - NARSTY angle ill tell ya, looked horrible!

instead of something like

I
I
o--------------

it was

o------------

but worser!

sorry 4 hijacking thread, but is there any lowering kits or something like that, to bring the joint down so its not such a bad angle?
