hi ive got a 12i just put a gte/gsi engine out of me mates car. changed da hole loom coz i fort it would b easyer as the engine has bn carbed so no ecu ect 2 play bout with. ive got the engine running sweet but as soon as put my dash clocks in all the lights stay on n engine runs,i went 2 take it off my driveway went 2 put my lights on the engine cut out same with da indicators it cuts out and even when the engine gets hot and da radiator fan cuts in engine cuts out. can u help me please

Anyway. Check all the earths are ok first... All the lights on my cav dials came on when I smegged up an earth connection behind the dash.

Tried all the earths and all the connections are tight, but it's still doing the same thing. Has anyone else got any ideas cause i've run out of them.

I've refered to the haynes manual and all the wiring from the two seperate vehicals has been matched up and still no change in the result. I'm wondering if my clocks are to blame for this, they're from the '93 1.2 injection and could it be possible that there's some sort of immobiliser built in, or they're not compatible with the 90's carb engine loom?

Nah, no difference on the dials for carb/injection engines.

Hmm. All the copper trace on the back of the dials ok? Do you have another set you could try? Its possible the trace has shorted out somewhere.

if its ok when ya take the dials out then ya dials are fooked, get a new set.
