yes
Get the engine number and cc changed on the V5 and go to your local dvla office and ask to change the tax bracket and register the engine swap, they will swap your tax disc (along with the relevant fee, should only be a jump up of about £30 ish depending how much tax remains) and send off the V5 for you.
Jobs a good un as they say and youre not commiting tax fraud and wont get a twitchy ass when you see the feds!

I've had the engine number and cc changed on my v5 so my car is now logged as a 2l 16v c20xe. Do I still need to do anything regarding tax? I will need to tax my car in the next couple of weeks after it has be off the road as a sorn for a year.
The DVLA should provide you with a new reminder notice (if the tax/SORN is due for renewal). Otherwise, just fill out the appropriate form at the post office or do it online.
If the DVLA have provided you with a new V5 with appropriate details on it, thats their bit done.
Incidentally, did they ask you for any form of proof for the engine change?

Ok. They asked for a receipt of purchase. No report of fitting.
