needing some help on wiring up my E16se into my nova which was a 1.2 carb. Right i have the loom, ecu etc..
The lad that had the engine before me was going to fit it in his 1.2spi and cut the following wires:
all these going to a big plug:
A thick red (constant live, from battery?)
Black (ignition live from back of barrel?)
Green (rev counter, to coil?)
Light blue
Also have a few pairs of spade connections, brown/green & light blue. And brown/green & brown. Where do these go?
There is a big relay but only a red/blue - fuel pump
Have i missed any wires out that need to be connected?
Thanks

red/blue is the fuel pump wire from the relay.

Ta mowgli, so i run that to the pump and then just run another wire from the pump to earth it?
Oh and if i get all the answers to what i am doing ill do a how to guide if people want one.

I did a 1.2 - 1.6 but it was in 1995
I did a 1.0 - 1.6 about 4 years ago,
I tried to get people to send me info on the 16se swaps for a how to, & the only comment I got was just stick the whole loom in.... not much good if the donor isn't a nova.......

I would change the whole loom etc, but i have a cat 1 alarm and have no idea how thats wired up so thought id try and do it this way.

there are only about 5 wires unique to the efi, so its easier to cut & splice the existing loom anyway

Do you take the whole section of wire out of the donor loom and then add to the loom in the car?

As you have already said. There standard vauxhall colours i think.

Browns will be earths. Light blue is problery the temp. Green is the rev gauge as you said.

Im not so gened up on the 1.6's wiring. But your problery have to run the green to the clocks. Tbh though, with out it being in front of me im little use.

Still need abit more help before i can tackle it, loads of people do this conversion so they must be able to give me some advice on it!
Oh and ive used the search :)

big red battery live (from starter solenoid)
black ign live from switch barrel
green rev counter
brown/white is the ecu lamp. remove the choke switch (under dash on cable & connect to the choke switch wire(brown/yellow) then the choke lamp becomes the ecu lamp.
blue/red fuel pump power, just fit an earth to the other connector.

all other wires to the engine are duplications of wires that are on your old engine, ie temp, oil light, oil gauge, alternator, starter. you should reuse all of the original wires if you can, as this makes life easier.

Cool thanks mowgli! Rep added.

on carb models the black ignition wire going to the starter and then an offshoot to the coil has a resistor cable inline. Does this need cutting out when going to injection and coilpack?

I think that wire was only on the bosch type dizzy & not the ac delco type. it is easily recognisable as it is the only wire in the whole loom with a clear coating. it needs tracing back to the ignition switch & replacing with a good quality normal wire. as the ignition live feed

the wire from the starter would also need removing, as the efi version doesn't have a need for it.

I've got this on my 1ltr carb loom and need to remove it as I'm fitting an XE.

yup. it causes about 100% of the wiring problems on an xe conversion.

I thought this was only on 1.0's?

it appears to be on carb models with the bosch dizzy, and not the delco one.
