Strange noise? Has someone planted a bomb?!

My car has some very strange ticking noise coming from the boot. It seems to be coming from the left hand back panel in the boot.

Its kinda like an indicator noise but slower?

Any ideas of what it is?

I guess since it only happens with the ignition/engine on its probably something electrical - could water have got in and be causing a short - check the electrical connections to the tail lights and if your boot has an interior light, check tihs and its plunger switch.

You could try and isolate the circuit by removing each fuse in turn and see if the noise stops.

sounds to me like the relay to switch on and off your intermitent wiper.

you have a smooth boot havent you?

so u may have turned it on without realising, and u wudnt know as you have no wiper!

disconnect it

i also have a relay behind my n/s light cluster but never figured out what it was for. Can i safely disconnect it? my boot it smoothed and my rear wiper switch has been rewired to open the boot via a c/l motor.

yup

all its for is the intermittent wipe

cant see point in removing it - you may use it at some point or summat, just disconnect it either at the relay or under the dash behind the switch etc so it cant be operated

as well as the loom coming from the boot for the wiper is a single black wire on its own - dont rip that out its the heated rear screen!!!

you wanna get rid of the loom with two wires and a T shaped plug on the end

slide it up and it should come off the body

cheers mate. you any good with wiring? I need some help finding a wire behind the dash. I need to find the wire that goes from the ignition barrel to the coil. I think it is a thin black wire but i really cant find it. I resorted to cutting each black wire in the loom behind the glove box in turn until the engine stopped but it never did. Where does it go?
