Ive done autograss for the last three years. If you look on http://www.yorkshiredales.uk.net/ Theres a forum on there, And most people are very helpfull. Theres also a classified ads page. Also if you go on http://www.national-autograss.co.uk/ then you can find a track near you.

Cost wise, I paid £65 for a license. Ive just sold my car for £400. So seeing as your a newbie, It may be easier if you buy a car. :)

Hi It depends what you want to race and how competitive you want to be. If its a class 2 nova you will be looking for a built engine 900-1000, decent exhaust\ inlet\ carb 5-700 and decent suspension 2-500. Then you would want to put it all together and add a roll cage. This is what I would think you would need to spend to be a resonable front runner. To buy a proven front running class 2 would be 2500-3500, but take someone with you so you dont get sold a shed.

I'm in the middle of building a Class 6 Nova to race this season.
Just got my licence thru this last week, £50 it was, pretty cheap to sign on and race as well.
