1.2 head on a 1.6

Iv been told in a previous post that the 1.6 block is the same as the 1.4, so, what if i fitted a 1.2 head to it, would it lower the compression?
im able 2 get a gte engine real cheap, so i may get that,

keep the 1600 head and skim it if you want higher compression. the 1.2 head is good but not as good as the 1600 head (bigger valves)

on my 1400 im tempted to get a 1600 head and skim it to suit

you cant use any other head on the 1600 as ul burn holes in the valves/pistons. it well messes up the compression ratio

Dicko is right. The compression will be far to high and you'll have serious problems.

The fact that the ports are slightly smaller on the 1.6 is compensated for by the larger valves. Have it ported and skimmed.

Costs around ?30 -40.

Usually a few thou". They should put an engineers "straight edge" over the head before doing any work on it to check that its not out of true. If it is they'll usually advise scrapping the head. If you only have a few thou off then there will be no significant change in the CR or valve to piston clearances etc.

Cheers CP, btw, would my local metal fabricators be able to do it, or do i have to send it away? do they do it on a milling machine?
