Hi all my bonnet cable snaped this mornin on my mk1. What is the best way to get it open? cheers dave

take grill off and move the spring/catch with a screwdriver. or try and find the other half of the cable and pull it

yeh.. if no luck gettin on the cable, be gentle with the grille on its way out.
once youve got it off, if u get a standard sized flat head on the top-side of the bonnet catch pin, just below the underside of the bonnet, u can push the pin backwards and it should drop down thru the hole (it might need a little persuading to drop), then the catch will pop half way.

Or lay on the floor, hand up under the bumper to the slam pannel, under that, find the end of the pig spring and pull it. Easy to do, tricky the first time.

grill off then look under at the catch rest a screwdriver against the catch and the bar that connects the slam panel and xmember. you will know what i mean when you see it.
