right im currently looking to buy a mig welder for use on my nova project.
Ive never welded in my life so know nothing about it.

I will be welding, Rollcage in, Strengthing patch kit, Seam welding shell.

Can anyone point me in what ampage i need?

Im looking for new unless some one on here has a second hand one up for sale,

thats has some awesome informations on all things mig welding lol

i was doing research lately and i think clakre is probs best make to go for, about 130-150 ampage. deffo gas, dont go gas less or you will be shot by everyone on here lol.

and newish ones from clarke are about 150 quid. on ebay

hmm, remember the more you pay the better your machine will be.

Go for 150/160 at least, and just keep practicing!

agree with Amperage output

try and get one that has variable current as apposed to a selection of 3 switches (high/medium/low) as these are just selectable windings and offer very little adjustment. variable wire feed is almost standard on all. and again, make sure its a gas welder and price the hire of proper bottles and not the tins of gas from motor factors, or it will be a very expensive tool. you will need to add the price for bottle flow regulators too.

they hold their value well 2nd hand so its not the end of the world if you have finished with it or give up.

and if you buy one, make sure its supported with spares, ie tips, shrouds triggers and wire liners. theres nothing worse than running out half way through a job only to find its mail-order only from china. ;)

ok thanks people still currently looking i have found a sealy mig185 can anyone reckomend sealy welders at all?

ok thanks people still currently looking i have found a sealy mig185 can anyone reckomend sealy welders at all? i have a sealy welder never had any probs with it spares are easy to get hold of though if u need them try and get a turbo one if u can they help with the cooling and a euro torch wire feed is much better and remember to buy lots of spare tips and shrouds when u buy the welder if ur learning you will need them
