i have a gsi with an XE fitted.
it was running fine but now after 3 days it wont go
it has no spark and the feul pump runs permanently
i have toyed with the idea of just fitting a kill switch on the feul pump wire
but i ihave been told that the feul pump realy would cause it not to spark???
is this possible???
help needed guys
cheers warren
yeh if the fuel pump relay is knackered it wont spark.

if the pump is running constantly because of the relay, then surely the ignition side will be energised constantly too? would this not then mean that the car would start but never stop?
sounds like there is a wiring fault somewhere.

hmm well it ran and drove fine... it had an alram bodged out and all the wires cut and we got it sorted with the help of an suto electrician.
i onnly think the pump relay as thats what some 1 said it will be but i dont get how it jus cut out and wont go again?????
id try a known working relay first

Where does your engine loom run into the car? and where is your ecu mounted? Because I had a similar problem. After trying a new ignition coil and leads I found that my ecu was full of water.

the loom runs under the scuttle pannel but the ECU is in the car in the footwell
im so lost with it i dont know what to do next
im starting to hate the car :(
try a known working ECU next.
It sounds like the loom is a complete mash up and isnt worth bothering with. if it were me, id be fitting a mint loom which hasnt been attacked with cutters.
The fact you've cut out an immobiliser, which 9 times out of 10 will immobilise the fuel pump in some way, is probably the answer.
Put a new loom in it :)
Infact Mr. Lee is correct, I missed that bit about cutting out an alarm, buy a new loom and start again.
