I think I needed to say that, the guys a moron, as we've said before Nova's will always have that stigma but surely he doesn't see them being razzed around as often as Paxos! Also he thinks a 340/360 should only go sideways if you hit a diesel spillage it seems lol
I cant see them getting rid of this image anytime soon, well not up here at least. Used to be Fiesta XR2's as well but now people appreciate them when they see them, in a Nova you just get all the chav attention...shame really.

Anyway. One of the guys at work, who is in fact the most annoying cnut that everyone hates, takes great pleasure in aggresively calling me a chav for driving a Nova. Which tbh I actually find quite offensive, especially since he gets incredibly shirty when I call him mondeo man and ask him what the view was like from the middle lane each morning ...and offered him some duct tape for his bumper lol

That post above made me chuckle, i have to put up with two VAG loving b**tards at my work. They reckon i might aswell burn my money instead of "wasting" it on an old car like a Nova. Ah well some people will never get it, lol.

I used to get all that BS about my SR too, even though lads I worked with had unreliable financed sheds they were still 'better' than my ancient Nova and it's 'climbing frame' I just LOL. There's nothing wrong with an old car as we all know - when it runs/is rust free that's another bonus to fight your corner with - I just laugh, as said they will never get it.
My ex had a £100 turd of a Mk2 polo, whilst her neighbour up the road (only child emo thing) had an almost new Clio 1.4. Cue much poking fun at ex's car.
Polo needs MOT. Tyre, cv boot, bulb. Did oil and filter around the same time too. Spent £60.
Clio needs MOT. Cue three page fail sheet totalling somewhere in the region of £2,000+ worth of work required.*
The fun poking seemed to stop after that lol
*having said that, I believe mummy and daddy paid for it...
LOL maybe if you had tarmac down there the Clio would have faired better!
It's a shame the parents coughed up for it though, as maybe the emo would have something to actually cry and be depressed about if they had to foot the bill.

Girl I used to work with (bosses daughter) had a brand spanking corsa as a first car 58 plater, i got all the bollox about "Two chavs go over a cliff in a nova, why is this bad??" and all that non scence.... She doenst unerstand that she is paying loads pert month for a very slow and dull car. The fool.

i get it from a VAG lover that all vauxhalls, especially novas and my cav are total shoite. despite the fact he's recently spent nearly £2000 on his mk2 diesel just to keepit on the road, and it still breaks down once a week. and my cav still wont die, and is just as quick as him on the motorways, total shoite, wouldnt you say?
Dude my sister and a mate of hers make me laugh. When they get new cars they always get 1.2/1.3 Corsas/Fiestas/Mazdas etc
My sister has a 2008 Corsa SXi at the minute with 'alloys' and her previous one had 'alloys' she couldn't understand how it cost so much more for tyres for my 'alloys' I said they're 3" bigger in dia. and about 3" wider too, plus I like decent tyres lol Cue confusing look 'It doesn't matter they're both alloys' rofl. I guess this is why we see so many cheapo horrible/small rims about. It seems that any alloy will do - they're all the same.
Also her mate has to have a spoiler fitted to every car she owns if it doesn't have one as standard. A tiny little roof spoiler, not because it's subtle but because it's 'sporty' lol
tbh the "chav" thing you get with nova's dont bother me i find it funny at times. But the thing that really gets on my tits is when people say buy a proper car :mad: Define what you call a proper car ffs. what has a nova got two wheels and one seat no its the same as any other car on the road

my brother keeps on trying this one with me saying i drive a chavs car whilst he stands next to his fiat punto sporting with tinted windows the thing is no one cares what you say the stigma is here to stay with novas i believe to much damage was done to the repetition of nova's and nova drivers in the 90's and it will never be reversed

One thing I do like about the saloon is people either love it or hate it. Plus they seem surprised when I am capable of forming structured sentences with correct grammar and spelling. Someone a web forum saying "novaz iz sh!t m8, dey iz a chav car!!!!!11!!" just makes me laugh. Lots lol
Mk3 XR3's the king of the boy racer have all but left that stigma behind, there's time for the Nova yet. It doesn't help its case in that you can stil get them on a 1993 plate, they are still 'new' for an old car and pretty fresh in peoples minds.
Whereas the mk3 Escort hasn't been around since 1988 iirc, so when occasionally seen these days most people have a bit of respect for them, only the older generations will look down on them in most cases imo.

TBH i dont care what people think/say when im driving my nova - theyre only jealous they dont have onelollollollollol
I usually get older people coming up to me and asking about the car and saying things like "i used to have one of these, great little cars".
Its the people who dont know why we keep them or the fact that most are being restored to preserve them. :thumb:

Yea ive found that since ive had the saloon. alot of people have said they hate nova's but they like the saloon :eek: but then it is the best type nova :D

woman at work onced asked me why i drive a "****ty old car", i asked her how is it ****ty, no reply came so i said well my car is almost twenty years old and limmited edition (astra champion), and i bought it cos i wanted it where as yours is a run of the mill boring blend in washing machine(hyundi getz)with wheels which ya have cos its all hubby would buy ya, and yyou will be lucky if its worth what mine is when ya trade it in .
she went red and said nothing else
