Sat there watching a car on ebay, happily refreshing every 30 seconds or so. Gets to 20 secs to go, click on the bid button, and the browser decides now it cant be assed to load the page.

Next thing I see is 'Bidding has ended'

why bother when you can jus use a ebay sniper and not worrie about it lol only cost a quid iirc

Searching ebay for scissors? Snipper? lol

Sniper programs are ok, but someone may still outbid you by way of a higher max. I sure as funk wouldn't trust one with no limit. Mind you, I sure as funk wouldn't trust one with my ebay account either but meh lol

Advantage of doing it manually means you can watch the auction and adjust your end bid to suit. I've only ever lost a couple of auctions in 8 years of ebaying, both of which were ones that went above what I considered a proper value - one was Tekken 2 that went for £62! 5 minutes after that auction ended I got one for £5, buy it now :D

The secret to good eBaying, dependent on connection of course is to whack in your top bid in the last 12 or so seconds, if you're about that is lol

If you don't win you don't win, at least you haven't bidded things up days in advance so you pay more. That said, if you lose you've upped the price for someone else. Win win lol

I really don't understand early bidding, especially from uber powersellers who should know better, but I am thankful when it's my stuff that they're fighting over lol

Fake Bid when you've still got a minute or two left, i.e. you place a bid but don't confirm it. That way the page is cached so it loads faster when you put the real bid in. Plus you can get an idea of how fast the confirm page loads so you can time your end bid properly :D

Be quite interesting to see how ebay would work if it ran like a proper auction, i.e instead of having a set end time, the auction is extended by xyz time after each bid.

L14MNP
27-01-09, 12:23 PM
Don't trust that lol

I also have a couple of 'spare' accounts so I can use them if need be lol
When I won 2 separate auction for the 4 Wellers wheels for 1.98 I used a new account, just in case I couldn't have them collected/delivered. A cnuts trick maybe, but until eBay close that little loophole then I won't stop using it lol It also rocks for people who have ripped you off etc. Especially if they have a shop or happen to be selling expensive cars and the one you went to see was a shed...

tbh lately ive been putting my bids in early, if i win it its mine, if not meh

cant be arsed sat waiting round for auctions to end anymore, t certainly worked in my favour with my latest buy anyway ;)

i normaly have two ebay windows tiled, one with the item and the other with my max and i only confirm with 5 seconds to go. works most of the time. I also watch the stuff i missed so see if the feedback ever get on and mail the seller if i think the sale didn't complete.

If your selling i often mail people that have lost auctions if i have the same product.

bit miley, but theyre good cars, my dad swears by em! the 1.8 is as slow as the 1.6, but its the old zetec lump out of the escort... so unbustable!

But is it un-lee-able though??

This is the problem. It will probably poke a leg out before I even get a chance to Tax it. in fact, it probably poked a leg out the minute I won the auction.

Agreed the miles are high, but if it was a repmobile, most of them will have been motorway hopefully. But even if she does start to knock, a replacement lump will be readily availiable, and uber cheap!

Hayley will probably stack it before the big ends wave the white flag anyway lol lol

Do they have the inlet manifold problem like some of the duratec mondeos do?

lol did you mean going for a drive as "going for a rag" or "going on the rag"? Either the way you are right to feel worried I feel. I'll get the brotherhood to pray for youlol

Lee

Just picked up the interstellar focus lol Just spent an hour or so giving it a thorough clean.

TBH my ghasted has never been so flabbered at how it drives, and its condition for the miles its done.

Im going to get a new steering wheel and gearknob for it because, as to be expected, they've seen a lot of hands, but the seats dont look even slightly worn! Engine is as tight as fook, and on the drive back, it just burped a few times indicating dirty injectors.

It will get fresh oil and coolant and a cam belt next week, and then its try to nurse it to 200k time lol

Im actually very impressed with it. If it was a 1.8 ecowreck it would be on its knees by now!
