i cant get anything from my amp (brand new) i've got everything linked up correctly i think. power straight from bat(fused) remote to headunit (which turns the green light on the amp on) and speakers. but my earth lead is 1m long connected to a bolt on the chasis. could this be my problem (length on earth???) any help welcome!!

have you earthed it to a clean bolt, if it has rust on this may be the reason why it doesnt work.
yeh its a good bolt running straight onto the body work. i cant find the problem anywhere

Did you say the green light was coming on then?? :?:
If not, im sure it must be the earth wire, make sure it is bolted to bare metal & not the paintwork.
I had the same prob & it was my earth lead. I actually bought a new amp cos i fort the one i bought was fcuked. but later found out it was the earth lead and both amps worked! DOH :x
the light is on. think there must be a fault in my car. tried another amp today and got just the same result!
any1 know the name of a good auto electrition :D

try conencting the RCA leads!!!!! If that dont work, put a multimeter across the speaker terminals but measure the current (alternating). It will prob say zero otherwise your speakers would be working. best thing, is borrow an amp you know works. Normally an bad earth will still allow the amp to function but you will get a loud, fast pounding noise rather than the sound you want.
It cant be your car!
If you get a light on the amp then the power source is fine. So forget the remote lead and power lead.
The only wires left will be earth and speaker!
Start with earth, if you tried another amp and it didnt work, then that dont mean its the car. It could just as easily be the sub or speaker connections.
Make sure the RCA wires from the head units PreOut are pluggged in to the amp and correctly, then check that the wires from the amp to the SUB are correctly wired in and the right way around.
Remember, if your sub came seperate from a box, then you will need some speaker wire running from the actual sub to the connectors on the box!! CLASSIC MISTAKE.
If this isnt the problem, then try another sub or speakers to be sure, else, it will be your earth. Just move the earth wire elsewhere a couple of times, ensuring that it is connected to completly bare metal and no other wires.
Good Luck

are the RCA leads home made? if they are, burn them. Also, make sure the leads haven't come out of the back of the head unit.
i've checked the rca's they are wired to the back of the headunit red to red, white to white. this is the same at the amp. tried them with my 6x9's, didnt work! shortened earth connection, didnt work. need to get a multimeter and test the speaker outputs. after that i'm taken it back!

definitely snds like you have a wire off or something, if not maybe even the headunit
you sure you dont have to switch something on the HU or a setting or anything?
im baffled!
have u fixed it yet?

just a thought, have you definately got power to the amp? the green light comes on even when there is not a +ve cable (the green light gets its power from the remote lead). Check the fuse in the big red lead.
