View Full Version : early 90's, oldskool members
i have followed a thread on another forum regarding the 90's and through the eyes of youtube have been having a right old time in memory lane.
The evening would start like this (obv with some chemical help occasionally)

I'd say about 10% of the guys in total that visit the site would understand/also of been there around that era (we are talking circa 17yrs ago :( ) but it was a time of lesser technology yet far better music than most of the pap around now
if only it was still like that and not full of chavvy gansterzzzz like it is now,
i was born to late
If todays scene was anything like back then the world would be a happier place lol lol
You are going to be one seriously miserable old man Mr R. i rekon you'll have a stick especially balanced for ease of shaking lol
Ahhh the good old days.... when instead of dancing, you just needed to shuffle about waving your arms like a wasp was after you, whilst 'sorted' on a couple of bob martins dog tablets that some bloke sold you in a toilets...

And the most worrying point of that quote is the fact you are obviously quite knowledgable about mamma mia
Here Here Dan, fully agree with your opening statement, I get told I'm stuck in an era still listening to music like that, technically I'm too young to remember Fantazia's Big Bang and all the warehouse raves but we were just listening to what all my mates brothers were in to and that i suppose got us in to the whole Rave Generation thing. Good links there, for some reason I've never looked for old school videos on You tube before, some really funny ones from Shelleys in Stoke, not very pretty faces. I went there when I was 16 and thought it was ace, I watched Stu Allen play and I still have the flyer somewhere.

I remember having a stripey t-shirt with an "h" on it, some red jeans and some fila boots lol.
Lol graeme, good minds think alike eh?
There was the ones I've just been watching John, that girl at the start of the second one looks like she is having the time of her life, doesn't she?
Yeah, tis v funny now looking back!
What is very worrying is the amount of young ravers, taking things without knowing what long term effects it was going to have on them and making themselves chemical guinea pigs, that aside doesn't stop me still listening to the music and remenicing (sp).

I was born in 1983, so was too young to attend these raves, but I went clubbing from around 1999 till a few years ago. It's alot different now, but some of the music is still awesome, if you know where to look.
Alot of the deep house, tech house is around 125bhp (simaliar to the old rave scene)
It's a pity the youth of today are more into R&B! lol
You are going to be one seriously miserable old man Mr R. i rekon you'll have a stick especially balanced for ease of shaking lol
And in response to that Mr R i'll have you know i could possibly never get any more miserable as i have had no smokoes for 2 weeks so was surfing the past for the grin factor :thumb:
This for example i heard live  sent the place crazy, one of those you have to hear it all to fully understand the impact lol lol

watching ABBA winning eurovision with waterloo was a sort of jfk moment for me... my mum used to let us stay up to watch it, as it was a huge cultural event in those days, and after tons of crappy plinky plinky folk ballads, abba burst onto the stage, and sang a song about a railway station.... from that moment we would all ask 'do you prefer the blonde or the brown one?' I always liked Benny..;)
