Does anyone no how much it would cost to get a new battery tray welded in?

not much if u do it yourself, but probably around £300 if u take it to a garage.
ive always been robbed when it comes to pay for welding.

prep it and then ask to get it welded. Then if it takes the boy 15-20 mins to weld then he cant charge too much.

Yea and make sure you take the foam stuff out and any bits that they might move.

Yep, they could do it, but it will probably be more expensive than taking it to the local old boy fabricator with a welding shed who'll do it in 10 mins for £50 cash in hand lol

That's the problem 'pros' will melt/burn anything in their way if you don't suitably strip and prep. the car dude. DIY FTW, the hardest part of this job is removing the old tray, which I assume you will do yourself? Ideally you want to take the dash out or at least move it back.

Have someone inside on fire duty too, most garages won't do any of the above lol

Yip, remove as much out of the way as possible, as its more than likely that something will catch on fire if its close enough!!:thumb:

For a proper job, its carpet up, dash out due to the sound deadening behind the dash, so £50 is way way too low.

try about £2-300.

however, can probably get a cowboy job done for £50.

I may be wrong, but to get dash away and back in after is 1- 1/2hours.

Sound deading away from bulkhead and back in 15-30ins.

Grind old tray out 15 mins, clean up and prep for weld 15 mins, weld it in 15-30mins, paint and sealer 15 mins.

Its half a days work. Garage rates £50 p/hour this way? Battery tray must be £20-30?

I paid £50 to the local welder to do the battery tray on my old hatchback, and he's far from a cowboy - as said that was cash in hand though. Just so long as you make it an easy job (i.e. remove all the trim etc) he was happy to do cash in hand stuff no fuss.

£2-300 would be about right for a garage/bodyshop to do the complete job, including removing trim and cutting out the old panel.

Depends if there's any decent local one-man welders to you I guess.

Get all the trim out of the way and have a good poke about, I've found on most that the rot continues down the bulkhead toward the holes for the throttle/choke cables.

That only took about half an hour to do, and resisted my 17st jumping on it!
