Hi all, i've got 2 redtop engines, 1's a coil pack an the other is a dizzy, they both have different inlet manifolds and different colour injectors (blue and cream). Is there any difference between the 2 or are they just a different style.

coil pack engine,

Just appear to have different colour injectors to me..

The top pic shows the ecotec pipe flange.

i was using the standard sfi box on the dizzy engine so the flange was not needed. i will be taking the dizzy engine out my sr this wkend as it goin 2 the scrappy next week:cry: . i will get better pics of the inlet wen its out

i couldnt get the old engine 2 spark, spent hundreds on a new coil pack, sensors etc. then had enough of it, bought a dizzy engine put it in and it started first turn of the key . coil pack engine just sittin in the corner of my garage now, was hoping that 1 set of injectors was bigger than the other set

Break up the old engine and sell it in bits, reclaim some of your cost.

the dispack inlet mani has bigger ports iirc, and has a 3bar reg, the dizzy has a 2.5 bar and smaller injectors. it meants it flows better. there was a debate on mig about it last month. shame ya not closer, i have a mate after a dis pak xe.

dont really want 2 break up my other engine, my m8 said i should fit a distributer and coil 2 that engine and get rid of the coil pack set up all together, not sure if it would work tho plus it always good 2 have spares

theres more to it than just the dizzy and coil mate. the list of stuffs quite big, and includes the camshaft, so a timing belt and tensioners is advised aswell. id stay with the dizzy lump if its running ok, and rebuild the dispak as a spare lump. but without it in the car you cant diag the fault. hope this helps matey.

thats brill m8, think i'll just stay with the dizzy engine then, will it go any faster if i were 2 swap inlets etc. over

hmm, its hard to say. on a std engine, it may give 3bhp if your lucky, but if its had other mods, i.e cams ported head and a mapped ecu, youll make more use of it. to double check, just take the mani off and measure the ports. the early xe crank is better. i'd also check to see if the dis has a coscast head mate, some did.

yeah its just a std engine i'm running at the mo, think i'll leave it 4 the time being. defo gonna check that head wen i'm at my garage l8r. cheers slothsport1

the blue injectors have a better spray pattern than the cream ones.

blue has 3 holes for the fuel to come out of , cream only has 1 hole.

I almsot guarantee its the ignition module that gave you problems on he dispack engine.
