Hi, (didnt kno if there was anywhere i should introduce myself like on some forums but couldnt find anywhere so decided not to), for insurance reasons i.e. cost of alloys at 17 i was wandering about other alternatives...the obvious are SR steelies then i got thinking about weller wheels as seen mainly on mini's and fords. Anyone know if they would fit or/and what would be needed to make em fit ('92 5dr Nova saloon)?

Cheers
Tim

I thought weller steels came in quite a low offset?

In terms of insurance though, you will still have to declare them as they are an aftermarket modification.

Welcome to PNG by the way :D

Yes they are quite low jack, would be ok on a saloon though, unless your going "burgo" low...

LoonTim

RazorJack - I am hoping that being steel wheels they wont almost double my ins. when i pass and go on my policy like the alloys on it now will, although i know i will have to declare them,,,cheers.
Anyone know where to get them from? They wernt the ones i was actually thinking of though even though they are way smart, i will get some pics of the ones i want...cheers

I dont think there'll be any problems with clearance mate, when you see it you'll know what i mean,,,deffo needs lowering but it'll have to wait.
I seriously doubt the alloys on now have the correct offset, they were on a corsa but the lad who had it before me couldnt insure them on it so chucked em on the loon when he sold it.
I will try and get some pics up,,,do you have to have 15 posts to put pics up?

Yep.

I'm sure someone posted a link a little while ago to a site that had all shapes and sizes of Weller wheels... have a nose on the search and see what comes up. I have a feeling it was in the styling forum somewhere...

You only class the boot as another door if the back window is part of the boot. That should be written across the top of every forum lol

Nice choice on Wellers dude, there's some bargains about. See if you can beat my 1.98 eBay steal for 4 :D

L14MNP
21-01-09, 03:05 PM
Banded steels will kill you if you drive your car properly lol. Wellers have been around since the 70's iirc so there's a lot of them about, easy to recon and ideal for bouncing off curbs lol

Draper it's cos the guy who listed them was a total retard, the title was 'Wheals' and nothing else - yeah even spelled wrong.
BTW it was two separate auctions, no-one else had bid 99p lol

LoonTim
21-01-09, 03:43 PM
Yer i shulda known that aswell it was the first thing they taught us at college,,,different body types and engine layouts,,,lol
1.98!!! thats a bargain,,,fair do's to him for sticking with the sale alot of people would have refused to carry out thier end of the deal.

wat about pug 106 rallye steelies? they wuld look the dogs...
did you put your wellers on a nova L14MNP? got any pics?
How do you measure offset or does it have to be done at a garage???
cheers

Jack
21-01-09, 08:33 PM
Offset you can measure yourself, or it should be stamped on the wheel somewhere.

Pug 106 has a different PCD to the Nova does it not? Anyway the offset on pugs of that era is silly low as far as I'm aware...

L14MNP
21-01-09, 08:45 PM
That's the beauty of Wellers, with them being steel you can redrill the PCD. Aye Pug is 4x108. With them goin on a Nova offset will definitely be a problem.

I don't have any pics cos mine are on a Volvo lol. I just hang around here cos I like the smell.

Here's the Nova on Wellers that was mentioned earlier dude, dunno if you've seen it http://www.pngclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=106518
They are 13x7 I've been told. No idead about the ET though.

LoonTim

fair do's.
couple of q.
wat does 'PCD' stand for?
What exactly does 'ET' stand for and mean? getting confused lol

Jay
21-01-09, 09:16 PM
Pcd means pitch circle diameter, to put it short fords, pugs, and Citroen's are 4x108 and most other cars like vaux are 4x100, Et means offset, to cut it short your need an offset of 49 or as close to that as possible. :thumb: Cba to go into detail. Jay.

So the alloys you want are 15x7 maybe 7.5? If there et 49 they wont fit without spacers.

As said, Pitch Circle Diameter. In the case of 4 stud wheels, its the distance of each hole from the centre of the wheel (Novas are 4 stud and 100mm - 4x100)

ET is offset - the distance between the wheel mounting face and centreline of the rim. Lower offset means the mounting face is closer to the centre, so the wheel sticks out from the car. Higher offset means the mounting face is further from the centreline, so the wheel will sit further into the car. Novas use et49, so try to get as close to that as possible.

no mate the alloys on it now are 15x7 atleast, very wide, does not handle lol dont know how they are fitted or what size, they on it when i got it but they going as soon as a) insurance (17y.o) b)doesnt handle well c) low profiles make it very uncomfortable, i travel to college 30mile one way!!! which is why i want the steelies

Jay
21-01-09, 09:36 PM

they TSW's, look pretty smart but are in a sh1t3 state were intended for a corsa but as i said he culdnt afford to insure em so chucked em on the nova when he sold it to get rid of em. now i dont want em

Its the diameter of the circle that all of the holes lie on.

Mini's are 4x101 or something very close to VX. Redrill the VX stud pattern or maybe you can persuade them to fit, or use wobble bolts.

Also make sure the centre bore will fit!

Tim, cool number plate font, old style FTW

Cock, yes, I got confused between diameter and radius. 4x200 would be like truck wheels lol

problem with a project thread is, being at college i dont really have the money to do anything with it, the only reason why i'm changing to steelies is cus as i said earlier, comfort and in the long run it will save me money mainly

Banded steels look the nuts! Lowering is a must for loons.

Starmags look well on loons too, 7x13 4x100, unsure of the offset though. I'm sure someone had them on a loon before...maybe that one that had the widearach kit? *hunts for a pic*

Edit: This looks the nuts!!
