hi everybody, will be removing all my suspension components and rear beam over the next couple of weeks and will want to have them coated in which ever way for them to look better.

obviously powder coating would be the best way but most expensive.so what else could i use paint wise so its all smooth and durable.either way ill be wanting them shot blasted first, which i was planning on using this,http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290239725613&_trksid=p3907.m32&_trkparms=tab%3DWatching. any body ever used one like this?

what has been used in the past for good cheapish results.:thumb:

many thanks

If your going to sand blast them i assume you have a compressor, in which case paint them with Hammerite! Get sum thinners and paint in your spray gun and away you go!

so just hammerite in a tin and thin it down?

benn-that would be the best way and stop me messing about with it but i will see.

If you decide to paint them, use a proper epoxy 2 Pac metal work paint system. The kinda paint bridge supports are coated in. It'll last upto 20 years if done right.

If you choose to thin Hammerite, it tells you what ratios to thin it by.

ok many thanks.

how much is powder coating? seen sets of wheels been done for like 140 and can only assume it wouldnt be more than that for a rear beam, lower arms, tie bars,anti-roll bar and anything else i may have missed.

I had a rear beam and a few other bits done for £60

I think a few places local to me wouldn't cost anything like that. I recently had a rear strut brace done and it cost me a tenner, but the price will probably double for having it blasted aswell. To be noted also there are different levels of blasting and material used to blast with, I found it very confusing

some people use beads or sand or wateva.the place i know dont do sand/bead blasting so that will be done else where i guess.think it would make sense to get it done properly once rather than axse about with things that might not work.

powder coating can flake of if it gets a stone chip then if water gets behind it then it lifts.
