peoples, please post the mods for the wiring of e16se & c16se engines when fitting a 1.6i engine into a carb & an injection car because I am going to attempt to compile a definitive how to guide on the subject.

If its like that then you want to make a how to for putting in 1.3s, 1.4s and 16v smallblocks. lol

I don't see the point of a how to for a carbed engine unless you are taking injection out.......

but most weeks there is a question about how to fit a 1.6 into an older or smaller model.

I have only ever done this installation into 1.0 & 1.2 mk1 novas so I can do that bit quite easily, but I have no experience of messing with mk2s & the vast majority of them have some form of injection fitted already.

I would also be interested in a how to for the 1.6 gsi conversion.

Tbh its as simple as fitting a carb engine IMO, use the loom from the 1.6.

And where do you wire it up to then smartypants........

Or swap the whole car loom, hmm for those of us who already have cat1 alarms immobilisers central locking electric windows fitted and dont want to swap the full loom...........

Good idea mowgli, vote of yes here:thumb:

This would be really useful for me too atm as im putting a e16se lump into my 1.2 carb mk2.

so, remove a whole loom for the sake of 5 wires that on anything but a 1.0 can be accessed from the engine bay, and n a 1.0, one needs taking out all the way back to the dash, a job that takes about 10 minutes........

If you think its so simple why make a how to then?

and alarms/central locking etc are all transferable.

When i done my conversion ; 1.0 OHC to E16SE i traced the RPM gauge wire right back to the clock's & hard wired it in.

Yeah but why would you want to rip out say for example.....

Cat1 alarm, aftermarket central locking, boot release solenoids, any other extra wiring such as phone kits and stereo install wiring to change a full loom when it can be wired into the existing loom..

I think youre missing the point that clearly everyone else is not as clever as you and would actually need pointers on an engine swap:tard:

Im not getting arsey with you so dont get arsey with me.

I was simply pointing out the simple way of changing it for a novice, but if somone has all that on there car surly they could manage to sort 5 wires?

Great idea mowgli, i will be doing this soon, so a how to will be good. I'm a dab hand with the sapnners, but info on wiring it all in will be most useful.

HAI, I'm just replying as I want to subscribe to the thread to watch AW06 throw a hissy fit and because I've to do this conversion myself soon.
