Hi,
I'm going to make a side exit exhaust to go out just infront of the passenger rear wheel, how many silencers do i need for a 1.4, and would it matter if they are really close together? :)
A twin box system else it'll be stupidly loud chap.
How loud do you want it...............

why not just turn the manifold up side down and have it exiting through the bonnet if you want to look stupid LOL

only helpfull comments
Nothing stupid looking about the exhaust coming out the front bumper if done neatly?
Is it a 1.4 carb or injection? Car will be louder if its carbed compared to injection. When you go get it made tell them you want it quiet-ish and see what they suggest
I dont see what the problem is TBH.
A side exit, for me anyway, is a must sometimes as the rear box is in the way where it is at the mo.

I now know that i think 2 silencers is the best, is it ok to put 2 silencers right after each other.
Yup, I have two silencers very close together.

I had a side exit on my old 1.3SR, I had a large centre silencer and a small booster silencer. I had it exiting on the passenger side as the fuel tank comes down lower on the driver's side and I didn't fancy heating up my fuel tank too much! It was quite loud, although not too bad. It also quite often spat little flames out, which was nice for warming pedestrians ankles lol

i would constantly worrie of smacking it on the floor if it was too big.
How would the heatshield mount round the exhaust?

LOL :thumb: !!!
but yeh two silencers if you can fit them otherwise go with the one if you have to and keep the manifold standard so that you can swap from standard system and non standard system easily for m.o.t purposes just incase it dont pass!
white2lSR - I highly doubt his intentions are to look stupid. Also, the manifold studs would not line up on the head.
Btt, I reckon the side exit exhaust could look cool as long as its not a big jap can or something. Are you going for a bumper exit? Or just behind the wheel?

Yeah im keeping a complete system just incase it don't work out. And i'm also going to have the exit just infront of the rear passenger wheel.
I will also be doing a side exit and dont see nothing wrong with it. mine will look something like this but going forward a little more

have it coming out both sides, think of it as a expensive television set and getting surround sound, but a nice roaring 8v sound track :D

I'm going twin side exit on mine. Looking to have a letterbox each side just in front of the rear wheels. I plan to have 2 centre boxes and a rear silencer. I've no fuel tank in the way so loads of room!
