After a few seconds of cranking does the ecu light go out, or stay on permanently?

yer it would mate there only sensors but they put the car in limp mode iirc and can make the car stall and not run till fixed iirc
may not be a spark either mate have you checked that?

Flash the codes then.
Brown/Yellow wire to earth

John
17-01-09, 01:23 PM
is the wiring there for it, may be worth wiring it in, then you can flash the codes off.

(Ad beat me to it!)

Adam the brown wire with yellow strip should be on one of them three plugs that are in ur car that are near the ecu, (i found there were to brown wires with yellow stripe but i did one then did the other) cut it off the plug and touch it to earth, But first go on to www.topbuzz.co.uk (http://www.topbuzz.co.uk) then click on information on the left hand side then click technical guides then scroll down to "reading ecu fault codes then getting reading and the engine codes explained might help you a little!. :D

It depends which xe loom you have. If its a very early one the wires are on the engine bay.....

Have you tried getting in touch with mcdvaux since they got it running. They may have a dizzy setup kicking about.

Good work :) fingers crossed that it gets it going. All nova's break and we all know they do, but no matter what they always want to be fixed and that's why we get attached so bloody much :D

Cheers Lee, i actually bought a new cap today as i've had a look at the other one and two of the points had been sheered off, it's still not starting:confused::confused::confused: But now when i try to start it the ecu light does go off, so im wondering now if the rotory arm is making a connection to the cap as there's not that much metal on the end of it:confused::confused::confused:

you should always change cap and rotor arm at the same time mate check to see if your getting resistance from the rotor arm if not you will get no spark mate.
