need someone to solve an argument for me, my mate is building an off road buggy with a 600 super tourer bike engine and he thinks it will be quicker than one with a redtop lump i think a redtop would be a lot faster

Lol whats quicker. a 600cc bike or a 2.016v astra/corsa/nova?

Buggys are alla botu acel, and bikes have tonnes of it

its not a superbike lump or anything just a 600cc tourer about 90bhp. and both engines would be in the same chassis so weight wont be a lot different

depends on the weight of a buggy. if its light etc im with the bike engine

but if its a big heafty thing redtop all the way

both will have the same weight chassis not very heavy just an average single seat off road buggy

id say the bike engine them. the redtop may be better top end etc but buggy's dont really do fast, just have lots of acceleration.

I seriously doubt a 600cc bike engine weighs the same as a xe? lol

Probably have the same power to weight ratio as the kit car with a xe in anyway......
As long as you can keep the car light as one thing the bike engine will not do is make torque lol

My mate had a warrior quad that had been fitted with a gpz 550 rr engine and it took the pi$$ out of my xe'd saloon more than enough times for me to admit defeat. The bike engined one will win hands down

im not so sure its just an old 80 or 90 bhp thing only one way to find out

But again, a quad is considerably lighter than a car.

The only two advantages bikes have over cars is weight (as in less of it) and higher-revving engines. Put both engines on the same chassis and the weight advantage is vastly reduced, and with sod all torque, the high rev limit isn't much use either

A V6 would be better

i would say XE. if the XE is in a gokart chassis and so is the bike engine i would say XE!!

Depending on the design of the buggy and how its going to be used, I'd say either a bike engine for a fast light one, or a turbo diesel for a slow, go anywhere type.

Get an engine with a flux capacitor, that will be the best one.
