I have got a 2l 8v SEH engine in a nova of mine but it stopped running about 9 months ago and hasnt run since. I have finally got round to having another look at it today and i have cleaned up the earth points, checked there is plenty of fuel getting through and from previous check i know compressions is good. However i found today that i do not have a spark on plugs 2 and 3. It has had a new crank sensor and fuel relay but thats about it.

Does anyone know possible reasons for not getting a spark at plugs 2 and 3?

Could do with getting this sorted asap as im gna need to make it my everyday car for a while

is it on a distributor or coil pack? possibly the contacts inside distributor cap are worn and not touching the rotor

It is distributor, ill check the contacts tommorow and will change the HT leads round with the ones i know that are working and see if i get a spark on 2 and 3, least that should see if leads are to blame.

Been out and had another look at the car today and i now know that the plugs, leads, rotar arm and dizzy are all working ok. There is 12v at the coil, but i am still only gettin a spark on 2&3. I read on mig web that if 2 go together, it can mean the coil is knackered? How true is this?

What would be the next things to check?

Just realised that i put that i had a spark on 2&3, when its 1&4 that i have the spark on. How do you define a strong or weak spark, i must admit it didnt look very big when i was testing them. Although i dont have anything to compare it to???

Havnt managed to try a different coil yet, but will be doing that tommorow.

it is more than likely the coil . charge up time so it will spark on 1 wont have charged enough to realese spark on 3 spark .then it would have enough to spark on 4 .then not charged up enough to realese on 2 .strong spark is big dark blue weak is thin whitish.ignition amplifiers may cause this proplem to .

Right...

This car has 2weeks to be fixed! We towed back to my dad's work this evening. Managed to bump it and it ran.

Injectors were very noisey, tappet's were quiet. Car drive's just, but missfires badly.

Any help sorting this would be appreciated! I'll have a better look this week when I get time.

Anyone with a spare C20SEH loom, ecu and afm etc etc get it touch! Or... :) anyone with a carb dizzy set-up for a big block :)
