Cause me and my friend have a prob. Here in Malta we have Autocross races, he drives a corsa b with a 14 nova engine which is highly modified. We use a standard gear box (f13cr) cause that’s what the regulations say. He has been champion for these last 5 years and this year there are some probs coming up which in the last 5 years only 3 gear boxes went but this year all ready 2 and still left 7 races. The type of oil recommended from the Opel or Vauxhall factory in Malta say that a manual gear box has to be given an automatic oil which most people do in Malta, but last night we were reading the Hynes and it recommended you guys said 75/90 Semi synthetic gearbox oil. We are going to use this type of oil and see how we go. Last event the second gear broke which is always the same problem.

Sounds like bad luck to me. But the other thing is to buy a good brand of oil, not just any cheap stuff.

DO NOT buy Silkolene Syn5!!!!! its a load of crap in GM boxes :(

I'm going to redline for the next dose of gearbox oil once I get the shifter cables back

I recommend is LE (Lubricaton Engineers) if you want an oil that outperforms most other brands.
See 1601-1609 DUOLEC (1605 is used in serious racing):
w w w .le-inc.com/products.jsp?productID=307,
home page: w w w.le-inc.com/index.jsp.

The oil will probably outlast the car ...is not cheap...hard to find...maybe overkill?

I think the more interested racing stores should have it in stock though.
