why do you have central heating when you could chop wood for a open fire lol

Turn the ignition key to turn the engine off with your right hand. Then after that with the same hand, reach to the nob with the light picture on at the right hand side of your dash and turn it to the left. This turns them off. :wtf:

Yes.

Wire a switched relay that uses a switch on the ignition to feed the lights.

You would have to make them ign live only, not worth it tho.

And central heating is safer than lighting a fire....

Edit: RJ beat me

Why have remote central locking?

I think this would be an easy modification, just need a relay using the ignition feed to switch the lights on and off. Still retain the switch should you not wish to have them on during daylight.

** edit, dam post delay.....

so basically using the live feed after the ignition switch to feed the light switch

No, use a live signal via a relay to connect/interupt the signal from the switch to the lights.

I cant remember how a nova is wired but you shouldnt need a relay, just change the perm live for a ign live. But why would you want to? if you want to see somthing you would have to turn on the ign, thus flattering your battery.

My way still retains the use of the headlight switch, just can't switch them on whilst the ignition is off.

Thats what i mean. Dont the switch have a perm live?

Buy a Punto (not recommended) or remember the fact you drive a Nova.

Beware if you ever get in a DB5 i.e James Bonds, as you reach for the lighter and...

Turbojolt, does your car not have a buzzer to warn you that you have left your lights on?

Get yourself a 30A automotive relay, cut the permanent live feed that goes from the battery to the headlight switch and connect one end to terminal 87 and the other end to terminal 30. Connect terminal 85 to ground, and terminal 86 to an ignition live.

Job done :thumb:.

TJ, whilst you're gaying your car up how about having it so the dash is illuminated whenever the ignition is on so if you are sh1t and/or female (lol) You will drive at night with zero lights on and question why everyone is flashing at you?

turbojolt
14-01-09, 05:17 PM
OK has no one here ever forgot to turn there lights off honestly now

and its not gaying it up the pink fuzzy dice do that

lol This read is funny.

You should have a buzzer by the fusebox that alerts you to when you've left your lights on and opened the door. Shouldn't really be able to forget about your lights with that in place.

L14MNP
14-01-09, 08:40 PM
Aye. Retro fit a buzzer, easy. Unless you do want your headlamps on 24/7?

You should. He also deserves negging for having a (possibly) farcical statement instead of a geographical area :(

Jack

Er, anyway.

From a safety point of view, it would be preferable to be able to activate the headlights with the ignition off. The buzzer would be the best option (isn't the buzzer a door open/headlamp on thing? Its been a while since I had one), aside from that maybe wire a flashing LED that lights up when the ignition is off but the headlights are still on.

TBH though if you have to ask how to do stuff like this, you're probably best not fsking around with the headlamp wiring. Shorting that out or bad wiring there can cause more problems than just the headlamps failing at night.

I did this to my daily drive, a seat cordoba, except I added one feature. I put a simple on/off flip switch placed out of sight with one side connected to terminal 87 on the relay, and the other on terminal 30 on the relay. This way I can still feed the lightswitch with the ignition off, so i'm still able to have my lights on with the ignition off.

I call it a bit of added comfort :D
