Renewal time soon, guess what I've been doing this morning :D
Car
1995 Celica GT-Four, 10k/year, parked on drive,
DIY Alarm/immob, Filter, Exhaust, HIDs, Wheels, DV
Me
26, 8 years NCB, grade A postcode, SP50 (3pts, 06/05, £60)
Also my sister, 29, ~12 years NCB, SP30 (5pts, 03/05, £200)
Policy
FC w/ business class 1, £250 excess (£150 comp, £100 vol), Drive any car (preferable), protected NCB, legal cover.
Renewal was from Sky, £481 (last year it was about £420) so I'm aiming to get under £400, preferably around £350.
First, I thought I'd give the comparison sites a shot.
Gocompare
Best price was £202 from ecar due to the current glitch in its system (lol), next best was £579.01 from "Yes". No!
Confused.com
First time round came out as £500.21. Adding my sister to the policy brought the price down to £421.50, from Bell - cheaper than renewal but still a bit steep IMO.
Q4
Came up with £384.41 - didn't have an option online to add mods so rang them and went thru all the same blurb only for the price to stay the same LOL
Autotrader
£684, fail. Interestingly, they also have the Yes company on board too, but they quoted me about £150 more than with gocompare.
Performance Direct
Filled out a load of blurb and their system then said it couldn't give me a quote. Then told me I could pay £133.57 and 10 installments of £57. No thanks.
eModified
Can't remember as their confirmation email doesn't actually tell me the quotation. I do recall it being 4 digits though. lol
Tesco
No option online to cover mods, so rang them. £790.65. Bye!
Direct Line
Little bit better than Tesco at £631, mods covered, but still way off the mark.
Churchill
£486.15, close but no banana
Bell
Went to them direct as a they came up good on the comparison sites. First quote was £363, but excess was a little high and no protected NCB - after adding those it went to £384. Not bad - note its cheaper than was quoted by Gocompare, with the same details...
Have done a form for HIC, just waiting to see what they come back with then may hassle Sky lol
