Me and my mate bought another Nova shell during the week and the guy came and dropped it off to us tonight there - Cheers again mate :)

Overall plan is to make it a clean and tidy track car - No budget really but want it done as cheap as possible

Not going to be mega mega competitive with this car, just a bit of fun on a Sunday for up round Kames

It has a full loom on it just now for a 2.0 8v engine I think and also Koni rear adjustable shocks and Eibach rear springs - Not sure what the front setup is

I can't remember if I had anything else to put, so here's some pics of what we've let ourselfs in for:

And also the 5 door TD donar car:

Ahhhh this off migweb? I was going to buy it as a track project. Cheap as chips!

Iv got a 20seh engine sitting here, its missing the sump and oil pick up but everything else is there. Yours for a curly wurly if you want it.

vaughanmc
11-01-09, 07:27 PM
Aye the lad said he uses MIG occasionally - We seen it on Pistonheads and I was emailing him when I should have been doing work in school lol

Not sure about the engine yet as that lad also has the 2.0 8v that came out this car

Hopefully tidy the shell up 1st - Not that it needs much

Then we'll see about an engine

Be keeping it 8v anyway :D

Cheers for the offer Mark

The white shell isn't a GSi it's a Merit+

More PICTURESSSSSSS lol Both look like good cars :thumb:

vaughanmc
12-01-09, 09:36 PM
lol The TD is getting stripped for parts soon

As for the white shell lol It needs a wee bit more work than we expected but my mate's dad is going to have a look at it then we'l take it from there

Either way we should be able to make our money back if the shell isn't repairable

But it's not too bad - Front panel, sills, chassis-leg at the back, back panel, some holes in the floor, left hand boot corner, passenger back light socket

Can't remember if theres anything else...

Rickyb
12-01-09, 10:27 PM

Nice, hope you make good progress with the shell mate, get more pics up.

iain

vaughanmc
13-01-09, 07:49 PM
I think this shell is destined for the scrappy

Just too many holes in that floor to be fixed

If someone wants it they can take it away for a small price but the doors etc are staying :)

novalewis
13-01-09, 07:51 PM
hi bud joined up there thats a wee shame a realy thought it could be saved do u want a look at my black shell?

vaughanmc
13-01-09, 07:52 PM
We thought it could be saved as well but under that sound-deadening was pretty fooked lol

The back arches were screwed as well and the back panel

Hmm we're going to look at another one on Sunday but I'll get back to you about the black shell :)

novalewis
13-01-09, 07:58 PM
the rear arches too?thats a shame never mind hope u get a better one sory a sold u a bad one didnt think it was that bad least u can use the doors loom and bits

vaughanmc
13-01-09, 08:04 PM
Aye both rear arches were fooked and the boot floor, passenger rear light pocket and passenger chassis leg at the back - All rotten lol

Not to worry though mate - For the money we paid it was worth a gamble and we can make it back no problem with the parts thats there with it :)

novalewis
13-01-09, 08:10 PM
oh well never mind why dont u use the 5 door? is it a good shell?

vaughanmc
13-01-09, 08:13 PM
It needs the boot seen to as well and someone is coming for the engine I think on Sunday

We ideally want a 3 door...

Rickyb
17-01-09, 06:21 PM
so theres been alot of talk on this but not alot of pics and also have you got any pics of the td/ you on track lol

vaughanmc
17-01-09, 06:22 PM
lol The white shell is now being stripped and going to scrap as it's beyond repair

We don't have any pics of the diesel on track as it was too wet/windy for anyone to take pics we just had an absolute scream in the car lol

I spun it once and my mate spun it twice! :D

vaughanmc
18-01-09, 07:12 PM
As the white shell is too far gone, we're going to keep the 5 door diesel and strip it right out inside leaving the dash and main parts

Lower it a touch with the assortment of Koni/Eibach suspension parts we have, get a nice set of 15" wheels on it then have it painted either white or 'school bus yellow' lol

Very very budget car and will be used to hammer round the track and also round a field

We'll be keeping the 1.5 TD engine as well as it's sound and goes like s*it off a shovel lol

I'll keep this thread updated as we crack on!

Jay
18-01-09, 07:28 PM
1500td go alrite then vaughan? Shame its a 5dr :(

vaughanmc
18-01-09, 07:32 PM
Aye goes very well, Kames is a twisty turny wee track and it manages no problem

It also handles well with the standard suspension setup it also has the strut-top plates the same as a GSi as standard and thicker front tie-bars and also a back anti roll bar

So a nice wee suspension change should make it handle that bit better as well and also a set of 15" wheels and tyres

I reckon round Kames with the cones setup for the Autotesting it was pulling to about 70/75 mph lol

Very scary in a car you know 0 about lol

Jay
18-01-09, 07:33 PM
lol I wouldnt mind a 1500td myself, when you sell let me know. :thumb:... lol

vaughanmc
18-01-09, 07:35 PM
We were going to sell the engine and drop something nice into the white shell but that idea went up the swanny

So we're going to use what we have atm which is a not too bad 5 door shell with a lovely engine and stick some nice uprated parts on it to make it even more enjoyable

All in the name of fun really and it will learn me more car-control etc :)

I'd love a 1.5 TD 3 door for the road!!!

Had it out today a blast and its awsome!!! I love it

Rickyb
20-01-09, 09:11 AM
plans sound ing good matey.

vaughanmc
25-01-09, 05:33 PM
The white shell had the roof chopped off it during the week and also we split it down the middle so we could carry it out to my dad's lorry so we could take it to the scrappy - Job done!

Then for the diesel, we took the suspension off the white shell which was a custom/low/stiff setup at the front and 40mm springs at the back

So the diesel Nova is now lowered and looking mean. The handling is also much better now!!!

Just need to crack on and hopefully get it painted inside and out soon

vaughanmc
26-01-09, 04:20 PM
A couple of recent pics of our 5 door TD Nova

Here's one of it out at our lock-up, beside my mate's autotest Astra:
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g191/vaughanmc/White%20Track%20Bitch/5DoorDiesel1.jpg
Now for some pics of it at my house lowered, needs a wee bit more stripped out of it (back seatbelts and boot arch carpets etc) But we'll get there:

vaughanmc
05-02-09, 11:10 PM
The old diesel bus will be out in action this Sunday, 8th Feb :)

It's now sitting on 15" Vectra alloys at the front and 15" Astra Sport steel rims on the back

Going to give it a wee clean inside and out tomorrow since I'm off school

I'll hopefully have some more pics :)

vaughanmc
06-02-09, 06:17 PM
A couple of pics of it with the x4 15" wheels on it - Sits not too bad for what its lowered (not completely sure) Also on 185/55/15 tyres all round:

You copyed my rear window sticker lol

Hate to say it but i should have bought that 5dr TD lol

vaughanmc
06-02-09, 06:56 PM
lol You should have :)

Goes like s*it off a shovel and it wouldn't need much for an MOT - 2 sills, some patching in the front inner wings and a patch in the boot floor

That's all I've spotted so far - Mind you its had some welding in the past lol The engine bay is like a patchwork quilt

moffat
06-02-09, 08:19 PM
looking good vaughan

vaughanmc
06-02-09, 08:32 PM
Really can't wait for Sunday lol

We had it running yesterday I think (can't remember) lol But anyway, some whistle from the Turbo with that air filter on it!!! :D

John
06-02-09, 08:35 PM
what's the td engine spec? upped fuel and boost?

vaughanmc
06-02-09, 08:37 PM
Nope we haven't touch the pump and boost

Don't really want to either as it might play havoc with the reliability

Goes well for what it is though :)

John
06-02-09, 08:38 PM
get it done lol. Will still be 100% reliable, it an isuzu remember!

vaughanmc
06-02-09, 08:39 PM
lol Supposedly there almost 100% screwed out from the factory ?

John
06-02-09, 08:41 PM
lol Supposedly there almost 100% screwed out from the factory ?

Only one way to find out!

I once had a 1.5 td, responded really well to a £15 front mount intercooler, and some home made boost pipes.

vaughanmc
06-02-09, 08:43 PM
Hmm, tempting lol

Trying to keep the costs down though, nothing on it has cost us money really

Everything we've put on or stripped out has cost us £0, well apart from 20 litres of red diesel at a tenner lol

vaughanmc
08-02-09, 05:58 PM
Had it out round the track the day in the snow/ice

Was very interesting to say the least lol

Handles so much better with the new/uprated suspension on it and the tyres/wheels as well :)

Only a couple of pics from up my runway before we left:
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g191/vaughanmc/White%20Track%20Bitch/5DoorDiesel7.jpg
Sits well to for being lowered an unknown amount, nice and even:

I can imagine it's entertaining giving that a good thrashing round the track. They pull very well those Izusu engines. I used to love my old one when it came onto the boost!

vaughanmc
08-02-09, 06:55 PM
Oh aye its amazing fun, needs a handbrake cable or the one on it tightened

It's a wee rocket - Never thought it would be as quick

I'd definately be tempted by the 1.5 TD 3 door Nova :)

Rickyb
08-02-09, 07:25 PM
