Are the calipers of a GSi Corsa the same as the later ones used on the Nova GSi?

I'm looking to change the calipers on my 91 GSi to the later type and have been offered a set of Corsa ones!
If the standard 3 spoke wheels fit over them I'll be happy enough!!!

256x20mm on Corsa GSi's and later 1.6 Sports. Corsa SRi's and 1.4 Sports were same as Nova GSi calipers.

Novasport, are you sure ? Nova GSI has Delco calipers, Corsa 1.4 has ATE which has different construction...

I don't have enough posts written to add photo, but I mean H-type calipers (similar as it was in older models), which are for 236x20mm discs.

I am pretty sure, that ATE brakes was only in Corsa's after 1992 (VIN number beginning with VSX000093N....). This same situation was with Novas.

Yeah, see the Corsa GSI, was known as the Nova GTE and the Nova GSI. The GTE was the Earlier model with the wrap around spoiler and older type Bumpers, then the Nova GSi was the Face lift version whereas Opel Corsa GSi's were both models, early and late.

I've an early 91 GSi (must be one of the very first GSi's) and it has the same brake set up as the Nova GTE, and is different from my 93 GSi.............

Nova GSI's had the crappy Delco calipers till very near the end. It was just GM running out the parts bin so some had ATE's and some had Delcos

Before I buy something I don't need, are these the same as the later GSi ATE calipers?

i believe all novas came with twin opposing piston calipers rather than the ATE single pistons calipers found on the 1600 16v corsa's.

the corsa's brakes use the same size discs as the 2ltr's i.e 256mm but if i remember correctly is 22mm thick rather than 24mm on the 2ltr's.

the 2ltr's have a slightly larger pad but also has a larger piston than the corsa brakes.

so the corsa brakes should work and feel just like normal nova brakes just loads better. not like some which you get the long pedal, which is more so with the v6 setup not so much on the 2ltr's.

i have corsa gsi calipers if u needed any...

from a quick search it does appear that the nova GSi 1.6 from Sep-91 to Aug-93 were fitted with the 236mm ATE brakes which yes will be the same as the Corsa Sport 1400 16v brakes.

its the 1600 16v corsa/tigra with the same setup just 256mm instead (i have these if u want a cheap set)

Thanks for the info!!:thumb:

I would go for the 1.6 set up if the standard Nova 3 spoke wheels would fit over them.

That was the reason I asked the question really, as Dod has a set which would be handy for me!!

pretty certain they do mate.

some even fit over the 2ltr brakes. defo fit the corsa ones imo, the corsa gsi/sport (with 256's) come with 14's aswell just like the nova does.

The corsa 14" 3 spokes are 5.5J so do fit over the brakes, nova ones don't unless you modify the caliper, but thats another debate.

90% of all J-plate onwards novas have ate brakes. My 1.2i did. Solid 236s
