Just seen this over on MIG.

Lancia Delta, VW Golf GTi (mk1) and oddly Saab 99 turbo getting alot of the votes.

Pug 106 GTI, but I think it should be the Lancia Delta or mk1 golf.

Like big_chap said on migweb. Its a total joke, you are just going to get all the differant forums all voting biased for there own car, vw boys voting mk1, vauxhall voting mk1 astra pug boys voting 205 etc. Even though they have never drove the cars!

I wouldn't say that, some will obviously but I think the majority will vote honestly, I don't think anyones driven all those car's anyway! I voted for the 205 GTi

and most of the cars on that list ARENT hot hatches.... not by the 80's definition anyway lol


since when has a 2ton car thats about the same size as a ferry with a ford badge been a fecking "hot hatch"

I've owned a 205 1.9 GTi, driven a few others that grace the list. It's not a well thought out and researched list IMO.

Voted other - Nova Sport (was tempted to put GSi but ive never owned one and didnt think the SRi was much more than a Warm Hatch)

My mate sold his supersport recently so he could plough some money into his mk1 cortina.

I voted fiat strada abarth :)

Nah, the XR2 was a much better car, at least it had a bit of power, and ws able to stop!!!!lol

His was sunburst orange ;)

Was a wicked lil car, but badly looked after by may mate and his dad! I'd have loved it... It was just bodged that looked nice from the outside.

my candidates are

mk1 golf
205 gti
mk1 scirocco (it came out 1 year before the golf & flew)
mk1 xr2
nova gte (unmodified)

I have driven all of them, the 205 was fastest, but the golf was the best.
reason I don't own one, my missus had 2 of them & I hate spannering vws nearly as much as I hate spannering fords

I voted mk1 golf, but that list was horrendous.....

the Dodge Omni GLHS........... it was a us spec talbot horizon. it had a lotus developed 2.2 turbo, Carrol Shelby had something to do with it & named it.. Goes Like Hell Special. they use them in drag racing in the states to whip the vtecs....... My grandad had a horizon, it was not a good car at all.

It is a weird list IMO. Coming from CAR magazine, shocking really!
