Hi,

I didn't really know where to put this, just dry fitted my 6 point safety devices roll cage. And im wondering what the base plates that you weld in actually do and are they needed?

Cheers

Well if you didn't have them in then if you happened to crash / roll the bolts could just pull thru the thin floor pan ... they need to be welded in !

What he said. The plates give a better surface for the mounting of the cage. Have a look some WIP's and you'll see.

the plates you get that are the same size as the feet of the cage are just for support of the feet where they are bolted in, and even if welded in will not stop the cage punching through the floor if you roll it, as it leaves the metal at the edges of the cage feet the same thickness
you need to weld in some spreader plates much larger than the feet of the cage to help support it properly, nova floors are not strong as standard!
