"There is STILL no replacement for displacement :)"

So how did the F1 boys get the same power from a 1500cc then?

heard this before, but wot do you mean by it?

Means its always more cost-effective to fit a larger engine than tune a smaller one.

For example, its cheaper and easier to fit a standard 150bhp 2.0 than it is to fit and tune a 1.6 to 150bhp.

Ah depends if its 16v or 8. the 16v you can get to 150bhp for not much money and they weigh less then 2ltr :p

From 2.6-3.5 litre engines. So, by logic, that tank should be putting out ~2,000bhp :p

well, the cars could only make that power for 3 laps at the end of qualifying... before self destructing, they were using weird fuels not pump fuel, the cars weighed 600kg... they were virtually undriveable with crazy power delivery, but had hardly any torque. whereas a 1600kg car & a gm v8 with 1000 reliable hp & 1000lbft of torque means a car capable of 0-60 in around 2seconds if the tyres can keep up, & 250+mph top speed if you can find a road to do it.....
