want to free up a bit of space in my XE engine bay. plan is to remove the original rad fan and use a slimline type fan on the outer side of the rad.

does anyone have any pictures/info on doing this? what are the best fans to use?

any help would be great :D

cheers

I have put twin 9" fans on the front of mine.
I use two of these (http://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p6093/RADIATOR-FAN-PUSH/PULL-9-INCH-DIAMETER/product_info.html)

Some old piccys to give you an idea of the coverage

how do you mount the 2 slim line fans as there aint alot to mount to on a gsi rad?

make a mount that fixes to the top and bottom panels.

Yes its the mk4 astra ac fan, thought i showed you mine. Mount it on the front with a few cable ties and job jobed.
Mine comes on at half, for about 8-10 seconds and drops the temp to a quater.

Is this a straight fit? How big is the fan and is it slimmer then a normal vaux one? Never seen one before sounds interesting.

Yes its much slimmer than a normal one as it doesnt have the big shroud thing on. Its almost the same width of a "proper" aftermarket fan
Basically just a metal rim with a fan mounted in.

Cheers Adam, added to the list of things to get :thumb: I assume its a straight fit onto a Nova rad?

i found a vectra ac fan and have chopped down the casing of it so it fits in front of the rad.
regarding the wiring though... there are 3 wires, one red, one brown and one black.
the red and brown wires go into the fan motor, so i assume these are used to power the fan but the black wire goes into a small black tube that is mounted next to the fan in the casing, this also has the red wire spliced into it.
any ideas what this is for?

any help would be great,

cheers
