lol

I used a ratchet and a 3/8 extention in the square hole. As long as the belt can be turn 90degrees (i think!!) it is tight enough. Remember to turn the engine through one rotation and re-check.

Hope that helps.

Oh, and yes i'm being picky but this ought to be in mech.

Naaaa, all you need it two large bolts and a bit of Y shaped Flat steel, put the bolts through the top of the Y and thats you sorted!!

It's actually harder to do with the proper tool. Or that may just be me!

I used my special tool to do the job, I call it "lee" lol

IIRC he just wedged a screwdriver in the pulleys to keep things straight.

piece of soft wood, hammer it gently between the pulleys. and belts should never be twisted 90deg, push the belt on its longest side, 5mm is about right.

I am sure thats what the Haynes manual says, as a way of checking the tension.

Twist 90 degrees i mean.

if you flex a belt 90deg it can weaken the fibres inside the belt, i was told this by sykes pickavant customer services.

Go And Buy The Timing Spring From Vauxhall Fit To Get The Tension Then Remove It When All Of The Tension Gear Is Nipped Up Tight
