i've got a 1.4mpi with backbox and ind kit in a mk 3 astra and it's made no difference but it does sound nice!!!! the nova is lighter so you might feel a slight gain. chips generally go for around ?200.

either change to mpi and start mods then or else change the spi for a weber carb. personally i don't thing spi is worth spending money on.

ive got a 1.4spi in the garage to replace my 1.2 spi early next year but before it goes anywhere i'll be swapping it onto weber 32/34

the 1.4spi produces 60 horses

the 1.2 on carb runs 55 horses

the 1.4 on carb runs 72 horses

so as u can see the SPi is junk

u should be able to remove the entire inlet manifold and throttle body and replace it with the same part from a 1.4 carbed engine (ie manifold and carb) and shouldnt have ot do much else bar add a pressure regulator and possibly replace the dizzy with the carb version
