Hi guys as some of you know ive just stripped a redto calibra 4x4, now the dizzy cap is black and the coil lead goes to a coil (im probably stating the obvious lol) - so im assuming that its a early engine and a dizzy engine? as aposed to the later engines that have the little coil pack like the 1.2/1.4s etc?? also how do you tell if its a coscast head? i know theres a stamp on the back of the head but where centre?left?right?? this came from a H plate calibra 4x4 ?

Underneath exhaust port number 3.
If its got a dizzy at the end of the exhaust cam, its a dizzy engine.

Best way to tell is to stick it on ebay, if it makes silly money its a Coscast. If it dosnt sell then its a GM. Beats ratching round for the stamp lol

Sound like an early dizzy engine to me, to find out if its coscast there will be a stamp on the head under the exhaust ports were the head meets the block - its very obvious if it is coscast i think the stamp is under ports 2 or 3.

I *think* Coscast heads have no core plug in the dizzy end.
