good call novagirl, although that would mean id 'have' to get the nova finished within 6months
205 GTi as a first choice without a doubt.
Seconded by a poxy Corsa.
Thirded by an 8v Golf GTi.

im just waiting for the guy to call me back about the 205
only a 1.6 and i can insure it for a reasonable amount :thumb:
The 1.6 is only about 12bhp less then the 1.9, IIRC has a very similiar amount of torque as the 1.9 too. There as easy to work on as Nova, just the inlet is on the front.
And, because i know you love to mince Mark, in the slam panel there are two circle holes, your average coffee mug fits these pukka :thumb:
but i have extra large coffe cups so breaks last longer ;)

Should still fit ontop the battery though :D
THere good cars TBH, interior sqeauks & rattles now and again (like a Nova) but they handle far better as standard then a Nova.
Common rust is the same as a Nova, behind headlights, syll panels, around the wing repeaters is uber common issue. Try and get one with some decent service history though as there really easy to bodge (you could end up buying a bodged POS)

How about this. Needs a little work by the sounds of it and not ideal for winter but a bargain IMO.

The golf has 6 months MOT.
Is it a special car that cant be reMoted for a further 12 months?!

Had no tax or MOT mind, but abit of welding, two tyres, bled the brakes and abit of a tidy up and it sailed through. There are bargain cars out the to be had.
nice buy pete
im going to look at the 205 tomorrow night now aswell

205's, great cars. I've had a 1.4 XS for my first car, a 1.9 GTi and a 1.0 4 speed run about GTi rep (not done by me i must stress!! lol)
Had to do the odd job on each but no more than you would on any other car TBH. The GTi needed the most attention but then a car like that always will!!
this is a 1.6 GTi, some old boy had it as a company car from new, then he bought it then his mates daughter bought it, now its my go
i drove one a few years back roadtesting one we had in the garage i worked in and loved it

Any 205 is a good car IMO. Handle great. Couple that with a good engine and smiles per mile is second to non. The french even now still build a good sporty hatch (Renault Clio 172/182/Cup etc)
what use do i have for a failed ebay link :p
you edit quick sir
lol - it might work if you copy and paste...although not to everyones tastes!
