Spoke to the guy on the phone, seems pretty clued up. He is just about to blast a DB4. He says the panels are un harmed afterwards which is good. He has had quite a few customers coming to him after they had been to surface processing as their cars started to rot from acid still in the seams and box sections. He says he will do the nova for £900 back to bare metal inc all panels then etch prime the whole thing. I reckon i could get him down to £800 if i pester him.

Have you ever looked at www.surfaceprocessing.co.uk (http://www.surfaceprocessing.co.uk) ?
They dip the car and strip it chemicaly so it gets into every last nook and cranny.
I think it'd be aboput the same as you've been quoted for the media blasting, if not a bit less.

He assures me that all seam sealer is removed. Everything is stripped to bare metal. He says he blasts the underside and inside the car with harsher media (except for panels that could dent from inside out) then all the exterior and engine bay is soda blasted. He then said it will get primed within 1 hour to avoid flash rust. The guy that sprayed the nova always said never to get anything blasted (i know from previous experience) but he said there was something called 'soda blasting' that doesnt damage panels. He also mentions that it leaves the best surface he has ever painted on. Something about how the paint seemed to key onto it.

Anyway i found these guys since he said that so i reckon im gonna go for it after he has sent some pics of the Db4.

My only question is this....ill be receiving a bare shell in etch primer, what about seam sealing then? Doesnt this have to be applied before paint?

I would not use them again, had nothing but problems with them. I am sure Keith would agree with me and they are a hell of a lot more than £800!!!

I had seen the soda blasting but after having mine dipped, wish I had know about them before.

Novasport - what problems did you have with SPL? Whats your shell come up like? Did you need much welding after? Isnt it about £1400 ish for dip and e coat? It is expensive, im quite keen to be the soda guinea pig!
