Right heres the thing, i have 16" comp mo's on my nova gte with 195 45 16 tyres and sometimes the fronts catch the arches when i turn and go over a bump, doesnt happen that often but i want to cure it, ive rolled the arch lip up but is there any replacement arches that are a bit wider but wont stand out too much or can i get them professionally widened on the car? 100% of the time.

I've hand pulled mine, but they need pulling again.

Its all about lowness.

Hand pulling is the best route, just do it gently and lightely.

Or raise the front.

I have 205/40/17's and they do the same. Just go really fooking slow when your turning a corner with any kind of lock on.

I've thought about trimming the arches on the front but dont know.

I "modified" the rear inner arches today with a hammer, if it works the 17's will stay ;) and ill have to mod the front, just not in the same way lol

stiffer springs!

mine did it remeber , coilovers cured it and folded the lip flat against the inside of the wing.

yeah i know what you saying, i think its mainly to do with the tyres, the lip is near enough folded right up, its just a pain in the **** cos at this time of year the last thing i want is no paint on the front arches just bare metal!

Raise it till it dont, or pull the arches or smaller tyres.

Mine are bare.. The tyre keeps rust from forming..lol

I kinked my drivers arch when i first tookit out, made a lovely noise.

i suppose, so this is a common thing with novas then? as my old 1.4 sr mk2 had 60mm drop with team dynamic pro race 2's in 16" form and that didnt scrub, they were the same offset too

Benn

How wide where they?
What drop do you run now?

Novaboyleon

they were the same size as my mo's now, ive got near enough the same suspension setup but i had koni shocks and springs on my old sr

Benn

Springs will make the low ness different. Pull the arches a bit..
I gotta do mine.. A lot.

Mine don't. I have a good ride height. Grind the lip almost flush.

My front arches are ground back before it got painted. Running 195-40-16's and it doesnt rub :)

I disagree here slightly.... If you grind the front arches the wings lose lots of strength Ive seen some that actually press in and out by hand almost like jelly! The best way of doing it is to fold the front arch lips. Any good bodyshop will easily be able to sort this for you and done carefully there wouldnt be any need for filler either just paint. But I doubt you'd need to go that far tbh just get some 40 profile tyres Im sure that would sort it. Occasionally mine used to do the same when driven enthusiastically and running 45 profile tyres plus that was with folded front wings! fitting 40 profile tyres however sorted the problem. :)

Yep/\
Because the lip edge strengthens the outer edge of the wing....

My front wings are rolled flat, no rubbing even on track. 195/45/15s, et 49 wheels

195/60/15 (which has a much bigger radius than 195/45/16) and no scrubbage here.

Fit proper arches :D

Its mk1 front arches, a. the lip is huge, b. they're narrower than mk2

Novaboyleon
05-01-09, 07:12 PM
think 40 profiles will do, and ive already folded the lip up all sweet
