View Full Version : How to improve the looks of my Cav......... (ideas needed)

With payday looming, im getting an itch to buy shiny bits.

If this were your car, what would you do with the looks?

Plans so far are very subtle. -

Tint rear lamps to 'de-tango' them (Turbo lookalikes)
Install sidelamps into indicator lenses so they light up with the sidelights
Also whilst in there i'l remove the orange bulbs for the indicators and swap with silvers.

Any other ideas?

Cavalier Turbo leather interior with working heated seats :)

Looks good otherwise

Do the wheels in silver,

Get a late SRi interior & colour code the door handles.

She's nice otherwise. [edit] The Sri boot lip spoiler would be easy to add aswell. Maybe badge it as an Sri......?

I'm actually tempted to buy myself a nice Cav SRi 16v if I can find one. I just lost my company car & need a daily hack. Cav's are so tempting as is a Renault 21 turbo...

I forgot to mention the plans of SRi skirts and spoiler / lip.

GSi's dont look right in Hatch form.

Im not sure on CC'd handles either.

I'l do a shop and see.....

There is a Red GSi hatch replica local to me, Cav slabs bare metal poilshed. It looks sweet.

I'd just stay with SRi bits personally.

Craig a 21 turbo and the word daily isn't often seen together lol

I know of two and they are all I have seen for about 5 years!

Get on german ebay, theres some wicked chin spoilers on there for next to no money. I bought one for mine years ago and the fit was dead on. Never got round to actually having it on. There nearly the same as the Rieger stuff, which are uber cool. GSi/Turbo rep has been flogged to death.

IMO mk3 Cavs are thin on the ground these days, and what tends to happen to models then is they get specced up. Just look at most of the Nova reps (more now than 10 years ago IMO)
It makes sense for the last few models to resemble the top of the line IMO. Yeah it was done to death but I can't remember the last time I saw a Cav Turbo rep outside of a VX gathering.

Im so glad you said that bud, id leave the handles and trims as they are as it breaks up the car nicely colour coding everything is just too much for me, id do as you say with lights and indicators and tbh i like the wheels in white.

Sri spoiler and skirts are a definate yes to me, maybe a nice stainless system or just back box and a little lower?

Btw Bigs, is or was that cav yours, iirc its owned by a member of cavcrazy:thumb:

Yer was a little tongue in cheek but yer.

Needs to be much smoother and different wheels to acheive the look properly, but you kinda get the jist.
I'v had the "white man in bradford" situation, scary.

Ok, GSi and Turbo Cavs were all 4 Door Saloons, its like M3 Mirrors. They Belong on M3s and Turbo/GSi kits belong on Saloons.

Now for your 5dr Cav Stan, I say:
.SRi Skirts
.SRi Spoiler
.Silver Wheels
.SRi Interior
.Disc Brakes
.Repeat Polish and Detail
.Place CDX Badges on the Wings
.Stand back and Enjoy it.

They look soo good lowered with a nice ste of SRi Skirts, and I do like the idea of tinting the rear lights.

Dont GSi Kit it, CC the door handles or remove the door mouldings or it will look aweful!!

Poor Pic of an alright example, I'm sure there are more flattering pics of this car but you get the idea.

These can also happily take 18s with a Bad offset, which always look great.

VERY subtle mods (if any), slammed and some tasty wheels.

Oh yeah, Turbo Diesels. lol

Stan, CDX leather found in V6s is a direct swap but Calibra (which is probably more common) along with the Turbo Leather will all fit apart from the rear Bench, where your ass sits. If you do get a set of either, pm me and I'll show you how to retrim them, its pretty easy but takes 30mins or so.

Personally i would change the wheels firstly to something 5 spoke either 17" or 18", lower it ! get rid of the bump strips across the doors !!! and add some sideskirts and different bumpers, iirc reiger do some really nice stuff that is really subtle.

Was very bored today and the car was dirty so i took the only chance ive had since i got the car to have a good poke around it. (only had Xmas day and new years day off work)

The plug lead cover was slightly ****ty so i sanded it, primed it and had a choice of either red or white paint. I went with red. The rocker cover gasket is leaking so when that off i'l paint the rocker white.

Cheers ;) It's my daily but as soon as the Nova is on the road (hopefully April) the Cav is getting all the loving it deserves. Especially now with this wet salt ****.

Sorry Stan, I was just trying to show you the headlight wipers lol

I'm usiong whichever whelles Dougie has with decent tyres lol- at the moment I have the GSi slabs in but will soon be swapping them over. I'm going to get some decent tyres on the steelies, pop the trims back on and slam it :D

Yessir :D Trims rock, never see 8v Calibras on them anymore either - or 8v Calibras at all lol

Cav's dont suit GSi Nova slabs or Nova 20ne/xe's lol

Stanley

Going to pick up a full exhaust off a GSi in the next couple days.

Im guessing it wont fit my Hatch as the GSI's have IRS (independent Rear Suspsension).

Is this correct?

Its cheap enough so may ebay it.

Dod

No, wont fit. The system is shaped differently towards the back and the rear box is twice as high as a non GSi Box due to the raised boot floor. Unless its dirt cheap mate, there isnt a big market for them.

Why would you do that to a Cav Turbo? And the wheels, someone needs to be spoken to.

also got a set of cav turbo rims refurbed so are like brand new.. lol anyone can do what they like to a car.. it will more then likely end up broken for bits when the time comes :thumb: lol

FAGS!!

You'd never take a Sierra RS500 and Put a Yellow Pin stripr or a set of 17" Chrome Spinners on it. Its like Putting a huge Jap Crap style Bumper on a Nova. Same applys to a Cav Turbo, by deviating from standard, you decrease the Value on them.

Also, you coppied my indicators on the first Pic.

This is how a Turbo Should look>
Nice, clean cut, no Gaping Holes or Stupid Looking Splitters, Subtle Mods, like Side repeaters and darkened Windows and a nice Slam. None of your Bosch DIY May Power Crap.http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92/Dods1/100_0876.jpg
