I've had my trusty nova 1.2 8v for four years. the last year i've added a pipper road/rally cam kit new head gasket twice, few valves a K&N and magnex zorts.
:?
Now how much power can you get by adding to this the 32/34 webber carb?
What would I need to make it a turbo?Could you use the Turbo off a 1.3 metro MG turbo as source for turbo?
Where would I get the pipes from in Sheffield?
I want it to try to keep up with my almost 200bhp 1.3 starlet turbo!
Could I do this?
How much in parts new and or old the reliable price someone please! Not will work if repalce the engine every month!
thanks peep's.
get a suzuki swirt engine and prehaps a turbo. fits in straight away, maybe some engine mount issues but nothing major. no need to chage the gearbox either
I'm 95% sure that u need fuel injection to have a turbo!
So thats a start

You don't need FI just look at R5GT Turb wich runs on a carb and early Lotus Esprit Turbo which also runs on a carb, i'm sure there's others aswell!
Anyway, you'll need:-
Turbo
Manifold
Intercooler
Lowered Comp Ratio.
Hoses etc.
I'm also pretty sure that a standard 1.2 crank, rod's & pistons etc. are not gonna be to happy with handling 200+bhp and that's b4 you get to clutch a g/box problems!!!

Wasn't there a subject about this before and some said about using a Corsa TD manifold and turbo and convert it :?: ?

I spoke to Jon at Courtenay, give them a ring and the might still be able to get hold of a 'sealed' carb that you can run a turbo on. If i can remember right, it is a Weber carb. You cant use just any carb becuase it will just...well.........burst with the high pressure running through it. Then, if you look at your engine block, where the turbo goes there is an oil filter. This needs to be moved. Courtenay normally move this to the top right hand side of the engine. And then there is the new pistons, rods bla bla bla to b fitted to come with more power and compression. Its bollox really and then when U have a turbo fitted to an engine....you get LAG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

I got parts from an XR2 (1.6 CVH) 'turbo technics' conversion...which I shall be putting on an old 1.3 I have in my garage.
The XR2 carb will fit onto the inlet manifold using a kit supplyed by Deamon tweaks, and I'm going to weld a flange onto a 1.2 exhaust manifold which I got from the scrappy, fit the turbo on to.
It has a small Garrett turbo of some sort, and i'll chop the oil return pipe off of the XR2 sump and weld it into the nova sump.
I'll use a couple of head gaskets inthere aswell
May start doing it over crimbo i recon...

would it be worth all the hassle for the power you would ultimately get out of the engine???
how much would all of this cost you???
