Just decided my insurer for January! Going with Quinn,

17 in January, so only moped no-claims

If Its standard it's £770.11
If it's got alloys it's £770.11
If it's lowered/gas shockers / coil overs it £847.54

Is there anything that doesn't need declaring? Ice and painted bumpers?

Is this about right?

What happens if the mod bits are nicked?

How on earth do you manage to get a quote like that at 17?

Anyway, if they'll insure them, declare it!

I'd tell them everything you have if you can, they will then have no reason to refuse payout later on.

I'm not sure the mods will be insured, they'll just give you the amount the car's worth standard. Wouldn't it be easier asking them that?

Harrr, funny lol

Ask them if they will cover mods on a like for like policy, although I doubt they will.

Its a provisional! But im well impressed and also if When I pass my test its £60 to swap it over.

Do I need to declaresilly things like GTE boot carpet?

Also if the bits are robbed do I get standard back?

Theoretically you should declare every non-standard part, although a boot carpet is being a bit picky.

Ask the insurer, its up to them if they replace mods like for like but I doubt it.

experience i've had with insurance when claiming... DECLARE everything! I hate the people who have modified a car and no declared it and just insure it as a standard car... makes honest peoples insurance more, and causes more trouble for yourself in an accident in an uninsured vehicle

MattBrown

Im declaring the mods! Just wondering what to declare, if silly things like uprated speakers and such need declaring?

Cheers guys

speakers dont matter, as most insurers insure up to £500 stereo equipement.

Mechanical parts which aren't on the standard specification need declaring

Im also doing a 256mm front brake conversion? Declare that? Yes

Also strut brace? Yes

Gte parcel shelf supports? Meh, mention it. Its an interior trim upgrade so not really a desirable part, but at least if you tell them then you've covered your own back.

I know im a pain but I need to know!

yeah tell them everything mate, its best off in the long run, and incase you do have a bump or two lol, i got a quote off them, same price on a provisional for my 1.0 nova lol, but i saw a fair few reviews about them, and apparently for the first year there good on a provisional, but a couple people said they got a full liscence and a years n.c on a provisional and they boosted it up, and apparently if you have an accident, there abit "cowboy ish" lol thats just reviews ive seen (Y)

Tbh you wanna declare everything as a just incase.
Better to pay for it then be voided after a crash. And thats a bloody cheap qoute.

Tell them everything. I did that with flux until she interrupted me saying we don't care about stereo equipment because i was only TPFT.

That sounds like a good quote mate, i can see them being abit funny about the strut brace and defo about upgraded brakes ! they seem to think that if your upgrading the brakes then your going to be driving crazily. On a different note take care once you get behind the wheel on your own as it's all to easy to get carried away, i used to drive like a complete nob when i passed, i guess i was just lucky to have not had a bad accident, soon slowed right down once i span it out though lol.

Quinn are going mad at the moment, my girlfriend has just insured her car (Citroen ax 1.0) for £510 TPFT with them, I'm 22 with no NCB, 6 points (my fault) and had to pay £1650 to insure the 2L with all mods declared and agreed valuation  .

My boss's 17 yr old daughter insured a 1.2 clio for £540.

Quinn are loving the young/new drivers :wtf:

Are you male - Yes - Causes high premiums
Are You young - Yes - Quinn likes you
Are you a girl - No - Quinn also hates you
Do you have boobs - Maybe - Quinn will love you if the answer is yes

If no - Your stuffed!
